i agree the time frame they tell you is just to sell kits (THEY could probly do it in a week, they have had practice), but depending on your body experience my guess would be if you worked on it for most of your summer break you could have it dont in time for when you go back to school (my guess, i still respect jspb estimation), why i like this kit is there is no modification (besides opening up the wheel well's a little more) like, no stretching or cutting of a roof or anything, and that takes alot of time!... i do agree with jspbtown, dont 'learn' on anything that cost a lot, but a donor z is a few grand, and the kit is only a few grand, not like other kits inspired by newer italian cars that cost around 13,000...as for a compressor and air tools, you can ALWAYS use them again in the garage and most come with a lifetime warnety, something you should look into investing in if you enjoy body work, and a compressor is pretty versitile and not just limited to the garage, always a good thing to have around, i have a small one i use with my nail gun, i think it cost me around $60 and most air tools can be had for under $15-$50, i get mine out of a specialty tool catalog, and will admit the prices are alot lower then the prices for the same product in home depot, so if you wont order online or from a catalog and home depot, lowes, or ur local hardware store is the only option, expect to pay more... i present to you... the pros and cons PROS cheap donor cheap kit all the accessories you need are there or easily available company has been in business for over 3 years that i know of have seen finished kits of theres for sale on ebay, looked great id guess its easier to do then the z3-miata conversion use all stock glass, all lights included can resell old parts in good condition can use stock interior or interior privided no expensive replicated interior parts (like shifter gate, vents ect) easy to find performance upgrades for Zs including turbos,v8s easy to find ppl to work on it easier to make a newer car look like an older car (Z-GTO) harder to make an older car look like a newer car (fiero-f355) CONS could be cheaper? not bolt on, but bond on.. would take practice
sorry for any spelling errors, this was kind of rushed thanks again for your time and interest Matt '96 Jaguar XJ6(burgundy) '93 Dodge Stealth ES '83 Jaguar XJ6(hunter) '80 Mercedes-Benz 300CD '77 MG B soon to be mine 00-01 S2000 AUG-NOV |
