EH THERE in a fiero it is not how much hp u can hav...the body is strong,,,what the problem is!! what transmission will handle that much hp...4t60e will handle about 350tq ,,,now if u go higher the better chance the transmisson will handle it,,,(4T65E OR 4T85E)

Have you thought about modifying the existing engine?? The V6 is a pretty good engine, and for the money your going to spend on a transplant, you can get just as much power without all the headaches. Using a GT28 turbo (from SR20DET), Motec computer, a GTR intercooler and a custom manifold, you can have a damn quick car, without spending the earth. Remember there is always other roads to follow with engines.Hope this helps Your mate in OZ Dave

A custom manifold is normally required for engines that are not turboed. You can get one from most racing shops. You probably have a better chance of getting the "*******" sound by using the V6 instead of a push rod V8. Just my opinion. Hope this helps Your mate in OZ Dave

The GM 4.3L V6 multi-port engine fits in the fiero's and has great possibilities for HP. They are a very popular engine so parts are relatively cheap and there are alot of Hi performance parts on the market for these engines. I think it's your best bet. Thanks, Robin.

I believe the 4.3L V6 is basically a 350 V8 with two fewer cylinders. So performance parts such as pistons and connecting rods for the 350 work in these engines. Since it's so much like a 350, a V8 Fiero kit can be used to install it. I think these engines were in the late 80's to current production trucks and SUVs.Rick Lord http://www.kingdomcustoms.com |

The 4.3L engine is easily found in Chevy s-10's and blazers. The website of all websites for any kind of engine swap for fiero is http://www.angelfire.com/fl5/fiero/fierolinks_009.html Have a blast, Scott

Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I was working, looks like you got some good answers. The 4.3L V6 you want is the newest one you can find(99-03) out of a wrecked GM truck, suv, or van(they were heavier and usually had the higher HP vertion of the engine) with the Multi-port direct fuel injection with Dual Over Head Cams(DOHC) and 24valves. That engine was the highest reving and had the most HP and torque of all the 4.3L versions. These were so strong and powerful that they even cam in some of the 1/2ton trucks and would out pull some of the small block chevy V8's. I think they even had a couple production cars that had a factory turbo version of this engine. The 4.3L V6 DOHC 24V Multi-port direct injection engines were very close to 200hp from the factory depending on which vehical they cam out of. You should be able to get your 300hp by just a custom header and exhaust, turbo kit and cold air intake, custom cams, and a High voltage ignition system. The custom header, exhaust, and intake you'll need to do the turbo install anyway. Thanks, Robin.

Just another thought, how about something like a RB26DETT (Skyline GTR), 2JZ GTE (Supra)or something similar. The good thing about these engines is the gearboxes(if they will fit, I'm not sure). They are bullet proof and can take up to about 750-800hp. Just something to think about.Hope this helps Your mate in OZ Dave

Hi Dave i did think about the Rb26dett but what tranny am i going to use with that and how do i get it into the the car wouldn't i need to get a custom cradle?? Also thankyou Robin i was thinking of maybe keeping the stock motor and rebuilding it but adding twinturbo to it i figure i would get quicker spool up and less lag instead of one big turbo??? but like i said i was thinking but wht do you think would it be worth it to go that route???

guys guys guys...pls think about the question!!!i am not flaming any one but think about it..why pee around jap engines when u can build a 1000hp quad 4 and be the fast guy around,,or better yet 2000hp twin turbo sbc...bottom line the engine means nothing if u cant put that power to the road...gm just did not make a front wheel drive transmisson to hold that much power..if u put a zf trans or porsche u hav to extend the back end,,,but the best bang for the buck is to stay with what works,,,,if money is no object pls be my guess and drop what ever u want..

hey Ducattiman i think that you make alot of sense in what you are saying but i don't want 1000hp but like i started this convo i wanted to just have about enough to atleast if i wanted to (IF) do a little speed over the limit running aginst another car no need in having the look and no speed kinda makes sense dosen't it?? i figure the ******* has about 400 so i just want to be close thats all...i am looking into the stock motor and adding alittle spice to it to give me what i need......

eh...first off again,,hp is not just the factor in speed..there r other ways to make ur car faster..reduce weight(less weight for the car to pull) gearing helps alot too.aerodinamics is a big part...if ur smart and hav the know-how...u can make some cheap and fast as hell...if i was u start looking for a series 2 (from 95 and up 3800sc) from the factory 250hp v6 and spend the money on the right things and then u can make 350hp plus...

buy what real ex system..*******???..first thing i would do is upgrade the 3800cc exhaust,,,headers and pipe,,get a high flow cat..now here is where the fun starts...muffers come in all shape and sizes,,flowmaster has a series 80 muffer that sounds low and i mean low..makes it sound like u hav a big engine then u hav..different lengths and size make different tones,,no one can really help u out,,it is up to u for what u like

No pushrod large bore-short stroke engine can give you the sound of a *******,a 3800 supercharged moter sounds like a 350 chevy corvette, camero moter etc,you can't get the sound of a multi cylender small bore short stroke moter out of it no matter what you use for exhaust etc, were talking about 3000 rpm difference in these moters ,that's what makes that lovely sound, lots of cylender, small bore, short stroke, and lots of rpm, builr yur replica with whatever will give you the performance you want, but forget the sound,it's not going to happen!!! If you use a Japanese engine say like a 2JZ GTE, a RB26DETT, or even a SR20DET, you will get close to the sound you want, well closer than the 3800. I have seen these conversions done, and apparrently they are not that hard. Just a suggestion!!Hope this helps Your mate in OZ Dave

I am just curious about what you guys all did with drivetrains; did you use a regular rwd tranny and rear diff then make an adapter for the shifter or did you use a fwd transaxel and adapt it?
