Hi all, I have seen some ads on here with people selling Testarossa replicas using a unstreched Fiero frame. Do they sell kits like this or do they just cut the rear quarter panels? Is there a shorter rear deck lid? As far as leaving the frame engine stock, execept for mods. What are your opinons on v-6 Fiero mods NOS, turbos, etc. I have done searches and research, but I respect your opinons too. Best to you all, F-Body Testarossa |

The best TR replicas are the ones that reqire the 7' stretch to the chassis.. I've seen a few non-stretch jobs and they just don't look right..(my .02 cents)If you go to this (Kitcars.com) home page, type in testarossa into the search engine, you will find a few examples of both versions fo the TR...I have an IFG TR on a stretch chassis. Bought it ten years ago and I am committed to finish it this year.. Believe me, if you go with that kit you won't regret it.. As for the turbo engine... I think it's a good idea only because you don't have to worry about rewiring the whole system as you would w/ an engine swap.....With a stretch chassis you will have more than enough room to work on any engine you plan to go with.... Good luck.

Ok personally, unstretched fiero kits tend to look like they've been rear ended into another car, but thats just my opinion. As for the engine. The fiero chassis can handle up to about 400hp. The V6 does like mods, especially superchargers. Turbos are good, just not too big, or you'll run into problems. Something like a GT28 from the s15 Silvia/200SX (I don't know what they're called in the US), intercooler from a Skyline GTR, blow off valve, and a new computer or chip, and you'll have a pretty quick car. As for the NOS, all I can say is for now stay away from it. But you'll have a damn quick car anyway. Hope this helps Your mate in OZ Dave

I'm with Dave on the unstretched frame. You can get away with it on a 355 coupe and it doesn't look too bad. But on the 512tr with those long cat scratches down the side, the unstretched fiero just looks "wrong".I have seen two different approaches to the testarossa. One is obviously to stretch the frame to match the wheelbase of the tr. The other method I have seen is to bolt on a frame structure to the rear of the stock fiero. The rear quarter panels and deck lid fit this extended rear frame and the rear part of the original stock frame. The stretched frame looks more realistic that the bolt on rear end structure. Please note, it has been a few years since I have seen either of these kits. Once the 355's started to hit the market, it was like the 512tr became the ugly sister no one wanted to date anymore. Good luck. I think a well built 512tr is one gorgeous car even today. However, it is also one of those cars that if you don't get it right, it looks really "off" KITCARMAN
