It is known that if you start producing replicas of certain Italian sportscars, especially *******s you can probably end up with legal problems because of the copyright laws. But what happens if one wants to build replicas of the following:

A. Custom-built models made by top tuning companies such as Sbarro, Koenig, Hamann ect. (replicas such as the Aldino or the Nemesis)

B. Special designs, concept cars or prototypes built for motorshows or special clients such as the Sultan of Brunei. who has a large collection of unique ´one only` models.

C. Models which have not officialy existed such as the 250GTO spyder or the Countach roadster. (The Velo Rossa spyder is an example)

Do the same laws apply here?

Well, copyright and trade dress laws apply as soon as a car is finished. The ******* issue is usually one of 'dilution.' If there's a one-off, I can't see how you can dilute one car, but Ferrar has lots of money, and so do people whose names have words like "Sultan" attached to them.

Tuners - Like Koenig and the rest - usually make more than one of thier cars. Their modifications could be protected, but they cannot copyright or trade dress the shape of the car if it belongs to another company.

The same laws do not exactly apply here. The 250GTO Spyder was never made by *******, so it's not one of their models. The Countach roadster was never made by Lamborghini, so it's not one of their models. However, there are plenty of lawyers who will hunt down laws and try to make them fit if the car is so easily recognizable.

Meat.
