Tell us what you think Dave BTW: does anyone know of a company that does the interiors for the Turbo?? |

I like your idea. I´ve been thinking in a 996 replica for several months, and posted my last idea here:http://www.kitcars.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=700 The engine and transmission need to be improved or even replaced if you want to have a car that seems to run as a 991. The front suspension of the Bettle can be used (anyway, it´s not the best), but the rear suspension isn´t useful in a car that is suposed to have lots of HP. That means big modifications. Also, that kit you mention is from an older 911 generation and I don´t know if it will look as a 996 adding the lights and bumpers. The roof line and the rear spoiler are different. The interior, I´m still searching for that, but no luck yet. Anyway, if you only want a car that looks like a 911 but run like a Beetle, then your idea is OK. But keep in mind that anything can be done. This is just my opinion. Keep us informed (and keep ME informed if you find the 991 interior)

You would be surprised how much horsepower a beetle can handle. You have to remember that a Porsche is a beetle with more horse power. A beetle chassis can handle about 400hp without too much drama, and with some suspension mods, it'll steer pretty well too.I'm using the roof kit from the GT2000 kit, as well as the doors, the rear quarter panels, and the rear panels, but not the rear bar.

I didn´t know about that. Well, it seems I´m returning to my 911 project again (I want a 996 Carrera Cabrio, But a Carrera or Turbo would be all right). Can you tell me the modifications needed in the chasis, suspension and engine that suits better for it (the ones you were talking about)? Now I´m really excited about a 996 in my garage.

Ok, depending on the model Porsche you get, depends on how much modification you will need to do. With the roof kit, it's best to let a professional do that, as it requires alot of structural mods. The rest of the kit should just bolt srtaight on.Now the engine. Most engines will fit into a porsche depending on what adapter plate you use. Heres a good one. http://www.kennedyeng.com Now, I have seen many high horsepower (500hp +) beetles with very little chassis mods, so it is possible on a budget. Hope that helps Your Mate Dave

Wicked motor works is ok, but they will charge you $40k for a 996 tt kit on a car> you could get a real 996 for that now. For anyone who is intrested: I know who makes the kits and turnkeys for wicked and the kits start at around 10k with the install. They are in southern calif, email me if you want the number. I am looking to build a custom kit and I need some help. I need to a good temp foam carver, a mold maker and a body maker for a one time project. Let me know if you know of any contract individuals or companys in northern cali. thanks, Bondheli@hotmail.comAsk me about porsche 993 and 996 kits. |

You've posted this already. In fact, you're posting the same thing over and over again. This topic is waaaaay old. Much as I appreciate you doing a search, it's a PITA to go back through 37 pages of topics just to find that you've reposted the same thing on another thread. Your pal, Meat.

Well thanks for your input dumbass, but I posted it in 2 key places of interest for people who are interested in the 993 and 996 kits, and might want to save $4k+. Not that I don't appreciate you spending hours of your time going through the threads to find flaws or duplicate posts. Why are you on here anyway? I have seen tons of your spam on here and all you do is try to pick a fight with people and drag the subject your way. That's what Yahoo chat is for. This site is for people who are interested in Kitcars, believe it or not, and not for twerps who sit at home and try to get out that little aggression that they're afraid to express in the real world. FYI I have posted this in 2 separate places; See if you can waist more hours of your time by hunting the other one down.Ask me about porsche 993 and 996 kits. |
