i am currently looking to buy a k1 evo 2 kit, the problem is that i want a manual tranny with a 5.7liter engine, but chevy old used a 5.7 with an auto trans. my question; is it possible to swap the 305 for a 350 (since the manual tranny had a 305 TPI engine) and second is it possible to mat the 5.7 to the gearbox from the 305? if anyone knows where or who this is possible through plaese let my know. thanks a lot

The easy answer is yes. However you may find it simpler to buy a 305 standard and upgrade the engine instead of the other way around. With the Auto to standard you will need trans, new drive shaft, new pedal box, new computer and wiring harness, and many othe little parts to do the swap. If you go the other way , the motor will just drop right in. Externally, the are identical, I built a K-1 and all i can say is go see the kit before you buy it I was very dissapointed with the quality of mine.

hey thanks a lot for your info, im thinking of just doing up the 305, it seems way easier i just have a passion for the 5.7 liter and a manual tranny, but, you are right would it just be easier to get a z28 which has a 5.7 with an auto tranny, and get a manual tranny and a new pedal box? i think it would work but you guys seem to know moere than me. thanks a lot for your help
