Has anyone here swapped to this engine on their Fiero's?1) What do you think? 2) What was the total cost? 3) Was it hard? 4) What was the most noticable change? 5) Is it better than a stock vette engine swap? (0-60 and top end) I hear that this is a great options for power upgrade from the stock V-6 or even a v8.. Please let me know... |

Hey thanks for the post. I'm currently looking for the same information that you are. I have a 86 Fiero that I'm going to put a 355 kit on and I want to do the same engine swap. The 2.8L V6 that I currently have in the car only has 67k on it but not enough power for me. I don't want my car to be all show and no go. Here is a link to a guy who has done the engine swap with some go info on it. Good Luck http://members.ispwest.com/newmdav/index.htm |

Two must have links http://www.fiero.nl/cgi-bin/fiero/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro&BypassCookie=truehttp://www.angelfire.com/fl5/fiero/fierolinks_009.html Just from what I read, it will set you back about $2500 or about $4000 if you have someone else install it. There has been criticm about how it is difficult to make the swap run right. Apparently there is some difficulty when hooking up the computers.

www.clubgp.comI have a car with the engine, on the forums of that site ask a few questions or look around. The engine is very mod friendly and can be seriously built up with all of the readily available mods we have developed. 300 horsepower with 320 torque is not very or very expensive to get to. we have members running over 400 horsepower to the wheels. There are one or two members that swapped the L67 (supercharged 3800 series II) into their fiero's, last time i checked they were running high 11's in the quarter mile. -Keith

Thanks for all the advise. YOu guys are great..I do have another question.. Would you go with this swap, a V8 Archie kit (5sp) or a long mounted V8 w/Porsche 5sp.. I am thinking about getting a Lambo Kit and want a good engine, not too difficult to install cause I will do the work myself....

If you mean a Diablo kit, I would do a longitudinal V8 with Audi trans. If that was too much work or money, I would do a 4.9 Caddy swap. Rick Lord http://www.kingdomcustoms.com |
