I was wondering how putting a trailing arm suspension facing the wrong direction would affect a cars handling and safety. I realize the arc would be in the opposite direction but am uncertain if this would cause any problems especially during acceleration.

I would sugest that any answer to your question is going to incomplete without entire knowlege of the car as a whole. A "gut" feeling is that most anything facing the "wrong direction" is not a good idea.Suspensions need to be designed with the whole car in mind. There are so many things that could be wrong with your idea, I can't even start to count.Maybe your trying to redo the wheel. I would strongly recommend buying as many books on frame/suspension/chassis/tuning/ect as you can find. Try motorbooks.com,for a start. I don't want to discurage you from your goal, but I think you would feel a lot better about what your trying to do if you had more of a knowlage base to pull from.
