MeatJust having another look at the drawings you have here. I think the open top would look better if the hump at the rear of the cabin followed the originals profile. That way you could one of those natty removable hard tops that stow away. Just my opinion. GavinR

yeah more of a targa look than a convertable look would be cool. and a hard top removaable section is a bonus. And hey it should mean less buildup time of the second set of molds since it would follow more of the original lines.

A second set of molds is a second set of molds. www.sportingimages.com.au/weekly-motorsports/gt40photos/photo2.jpg" border=0>
The issue with creating a targa-style convertible is that the rear of the rarga would have nothing to mount to; the rear clip opens up like a big clamshell, leaving nothing for the targa to mount to, really. It would be easier to make a full convertible. Also, there is the issue of the two outboard gas tanks that give you a huge doorsill. The reason the GT40 has those doors that go all the way to the center of the car was because the height of the doors is only about 24 inches, then you have to step across a 12" wide sill. It would be just about impossible to get into a car with a targa roof installed. The full convertible will probably only end up as a styling exercise...but I do like the way it looks! Thats true... OF course until you posted that pic, I couldnt ever remember seeing an open top gt40 before. so kudos to the photo archive you got that from. Personal opinion here: But I prefer hardtops. I own A real production convertable and I have enough issues with it, and cant image a one off one. And I have had real production T-tops leak on me too... So hey maybe I'm just not meant to have an open top... ;)

Hey Meat. This pictures look good. I know people have been really focused on cobra's lately, but I've heard rumors that Ford is going to release a limited edition (and very expensive) re-release of this legend. If that happens, I think interest and demand for this classic replica will definately be forthcoming.
