Hey guys...I hope there's someone here that can help me. I'm using an engine and auto/overdrive transmission out of a 99 Subaru Forester, but instead of putting it in my car in the same position as it was in the Subaru (with the engine pointing forward), I want to change the direction, and point it rearward (volkswagon beetle style). My question: Since this new position will result in my axles rotating the wrong direction, is there a way to change the rotation? Maybe inside the transmission? I know that when you mount the beetle transmission/engine in the Beck 550 Spyder, you have to flip the ring gear inside the transmission to reverse the axle rotation. Is there a way to do this to an automatic subaru transmission? I greatly appreciate any assistance!!

Talk to the guys at Kennedy Adapters (hey! I said this on another thread!). They have a kit to adapt a Subaru engine to a VW, so they may have a bit of help to give you.

Hey Stephenbl,

I wanted to do this as well - getting the AWD to work would be awesome. Have you made any progress?

I contacted Kennedy engineering, and they had no idea...and they really didn't know who to recommend asking...I can't find/think of anyone else to ask...anyone else know who might know?
