I think the porsche 914 is a great platform for a kit car. They handle well and have a ton of engine conversion options plus are lightweight (hopefully even lighter if I proceed). My problem is that the 914 is a unibody so I can't shorten the chassis as I had originally hoped. I had planned on cutting the wheelbase from 96.5 to 90 inches and in the process shave off a ton of weight and give the car better diminsions. Well, this is not going to happen. I reworked my CAD car to the 96.5 inch length and it still looks decent. I will still have to remove part of the frame but to a much less extent. Chopping the front windshield is also an expense. It is a much meaner car than the original and if I continue with this project I would like to add a deployable spoiler like the 993 has. Anyway, I hope you enjoy and give me feedback .
Thanks,
Scott
