It's an interesting car. From what I can see, visibility out anything except the sides of the car is pretty ... 'limited' would be a good word.I'd love to see it as a kit. I had heard that Lexus may produce the car in two years or so. I personally don't think that'll happen, unless the car design is significantly changed for safety purposes. Would I buy a replica of one? Probably, depending on the pricing. You're going to have to look long and hard to come up with the glass for this one! Your pal, Meat.

csjrishere, you're probably talking about 'The Car Factory'. They have been workin on the minorty report Lexus for some time. http://www.markalexandermiller.com/TheCarFactory/top_secret.htm In the pictures you can see some sort of glass or polymer covering the windows. I think the challenges for that type of setup (besides the glass) would be stuffing a engine and tranny in there somewhere. Moe than likely they will use a all-in-one setup like many imports (and just flip it around for the back). I also think that the front is lacking in crash protection. Plus the front wheels & suspension would take a lot of the impact leading to some very costly fender benders. Lastly, like meat suggested, the front A-pllars are a little too wide and will get in the way when you want to cross a street (at a 4 way as well). Regardless, it is still a cool car. -F -------------- my site http://www.statikdesign.com/scratchbuilt/ |

People have streched out Feiros for years and put Diable kits on them. I'd like to purchase a 1988 body-style Toyota MR2 and rip it apart, stretch it out about 12 inched, construct a tubular chassis on the existing frame, and severly modify the suspension. I then plan to do all the necesssayy fiberglass work from scratch and hopefully, someday, I'll have a car similar to the 2054 Lexus from Minority Report. Hopefully it'll be finished before 2054, but we'll see. Does anyone know about DMV safety inspections? I'm confident with my experience I can get the car roadable, but I don't want it to get impounded because of something stupid down the line. Thanks, Chris

Registration questions? Start at my site:http://www.cobratrader.com/registration.html Remember, before you start ripping apart your MR2 that the car is a unibody. Here are the essential differences (in inches) between the MR Lexus and the MR2: MR Lexus Wheelbase 106 Overall Length 146 Overall Width 82 MR2 Wheelbase 94.5 Overall Length 164.2 Overall Width 66.9 Differences Wheelbase 11.5 Overall Length -18.2 Overall Width 15.1 The wheelbase is almost 12" longer, but the Lexus is a good 18" shorter than the MR2. Overall width-wise, you're looking at kicking front suspension on each side of the car outward a hair over 7" from where it currently is located...the Lexus is only 4.5" narrower than a Hummer - which means that you're looking at a car that's almost as wide as a Dodge/Ford or Chevy full-size pick-up truck with a dually rear end. I'd say that it can absolutely be done...but you might want to re-think using the MR2 unibody. you might find that making a totally custom chassis from scratch and just matching the pick-up points for the suspension, drivetrain, etc. may be easier. Good luck with the project, I'd love to see it! Your pal, Meat.
