looking to find someone that might know the workings of the door lock? as it only has the one door and there is no linkage from the push button to the bottom of the door. any suggestions would be welcome thank you

You'll probably have to fab something to work, or install a remote latch release. Older style push-button door handles worked with a simple cam mechanism - push the button, shaft on button pushes top of cam, cam rotates and unlocks the latch. Start fresh and retrofit a mini-van style rear door release. It'll save you headaches in the long run.
