Hi! Well, I'm kinda in a pinch at the moment...I want to find different kits for a VW Beetle but I've had no such luck! Whenever I use search engines it only brings up websites about VW's with the kits already on the car, not about the kit itself. I was starting to run out of ideas when I found this site, so hopefully someone will be able to help me out! I need information about kits using a VW as a donor car, the companies that make them, what kind of options etc...any and all help will be appreciated! Thanks in advance!John R. Stewart |

Good luck, John. Most companies that have built kits for the venerable VW floorpan are long gone. If you can narrow down the type of kit you're interested in, you may have more success locating an unmounted body on eBay or some such site. Generally, Bradleys and some Mercedes replicas are the most common found, but others show from time to time. I've got a Cimbria on my site right now that is fresh from the crate - never mounted. For other kit ideas, look at http://www.kitcarlist.com/ or visit us at www.nationalsterling.orgRick

Not me personally. The guy had contacted me through the club and asked to list it on the site. As far as I know it's still available. I also have a good friend who has a second generation Cimbria with a race prepped Ford Pinto engine in it that he'd like to sell for the right price. He's not real serious, but for the right number (high teens) he'd sell. Photos of that one are on the site, too. He drives the car almost every day - it's finished quite nicely!Rick

Hey Rick, Thanks for the reply. I was browsing the web and my girlfriend stumbled into a site that got me excited. Check out http://www.cybercars.com/bigbooks/vwkits/bgw.htm I think I could enjoy building both of those cover cars, but I really like the green coupe (not the color green) but the design. JohnJohn R. BGW Spectre has been around for a while, but I can't say I've heard of anyone locally who has built their kits. They look nice, and the Willys replica is certainly different. I would imagine it's scaled somewhat smaller than the original - sort of like the midget racers!Rick
