One way to determine a market price (sort of) for kits is to keep watching eBay, and in your case www.mantacars.com . There was a VW based Montage on eBay not too long ago, and I think it struggled to hit $4K, but I wasn't watching that close. The Manta site has one listed for $8K - but they don't say of they have sold or not.
Long and short of it: comes down to how complete the car is. VW based Manta's just don't hold their value against the tube chassis Manta. It's all in the stigma of the VW kit car, no matter what model it is.

Rick ! Thanks for responding to my question about my 81 Montage.
You are 100% correct about the VW stigma, in fact it's always kept me
from goin all the way with this car. I thought about the 914 running gear and the re-engineering of the front end for it's handling characteristics but could'nt find the motivation. I did however
dial the thing in with a nice PPG polished paint job and took it to a NCKCC in 1991 where it was well received by the patrons and overlooked
a bit by the judges. Anyhow it pretty much looks like the Black Montage
Retore job now thats on the Manta web-site except it has not been torn-
down. If I Can find somebody in my area that wants to really make something out of this beautiful car I would consider it. Anyway Thanks
again for the connection. {NO BAD DAYS!} Mike,
Sacramento

Well, PM me off my website www.nationalsterling.org if you're serious on selling. I've got a couple people in the area that would love to have one here on the east coast!
