ok, so I've been looking into building a kit car. My goal is to build something open wheel (something similar to a 7 or atom) but not sure what is a good place to find either prebuilt frames or designs that you can trust. This car will be custom and WILL be registered for the street. and the over all size of the vehicle, balance, and motor location etc. But thats not the problem, I really would like to build a prebuilt fram and work from there, or get a good design to work with. And I am having a hard time finding ANYTHING other than people saying not to buy designs. I can design something myself, but it would be much better to go off something already built. (and I realize I would have to use close to the suspension design used on the orginal design) Any thing you can give me would be nice.

couple of other things I will point out is, one, that this is custom. Second that this will be a car this will be driven on the track for the purpose of being driven on the track as well as weekend driving. I've been looking into the California laws regarding registering on the street and I plan to comply with all needed emissions standards and will be using a new production motor as soon as I can get a couple questions regarding that cleared up (moslty if you register under smog for the year the kit is built doe the motor have to be from that year or newer or does it just need to pass that years standards?)

The only thing i can tell you is check at your local DMV for regulations& rules.Second is if you want a chassis built you could go to a local chassis shop/or welding and get a qote or perhaps they could even build it for you. It might cost you some but it will be worth it since it will be drivin on the track. I don't know that many chassis out there other than a few Cobra chassis that are very strong and the new GTM supercar that is built by factory five racing that houses a Corvette LS1 engine .The only other chassis i would trust would be the NAERC but those are Diablo replica chassis but they are very strong and can handle alot of Horsepower. But if you want check it out.
Its not alot but hope it helps. I can't imagine driving a 20 year old F-car |

thanks, I've been thinking about the cobra chassis because it's a good platform, I just don't want the cobra body. or the price. And agian I realize it will cost, but I don't need to add an extra 10K for a shell.other problem is I'm looking for open wheel. Are there companies in the US that sell Super 7 knock off kits, or that would sell just the chassis and suspension?
