Hi All...I thought I had posted this same question here before but now I can't find it so here it is again.

I have a Stewart Warner Stage III tach that I am installing in my 197? Sterling. (The Sterling that I'm keeping!) All of the other guages are the same type and I want to keep them matched.

I know that one connections is Ground, one is 12 + supply and the third is the - side of the coil.

My question is:

Which one goes to which one on the back of the tach?

There are no markings on the tach rear side. There are three insulated screw studs. Two close togther and one off by itself. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mac.

This is why I started National Sterling, Mac. Most of the guys have those in their cars; mine burned out years ago, so I can't tell you where the wires go. There has to be some sort of code on the back, SW always marks their products. Yours just may be worn off for some reason.
There is only one ground to any gauge, unless the light is on it's own circuit. If the light in your gauge is integrated (read: one wire from the pigtail, usually the negative lead), then one of those posts close together is the dash circuit; the other is the drop from the coil. The farthest one is probably the ground. And, I think you want the + side of the coil for the trigger, but don't quote me on that.
