I have kind of scetched out a car I would like to build an a small scale first; perhaps 2' long, and would like some basic input on how to create a plug.
I have never done anything like this so am very green around the edges. I posted before looking for help on fiberglass body building and received some input there.
What I am trying to do is take what I have drawn on paper and create an actual model of what I drew. I had read somewhere once before (computer crashed and can't remember where I found it) on the net how someone took a model and used some sort of instrument to create a bigger drawing of the model. Then made measurments and created a buck/plug from there. Does that sound familiar to anyone? What instrument was it that they were talking about? I know that when I was a child, I used to have a toy that would allow me to trace a picture and make it bigger with the toy. Am I making any sense?

It's called a pantograph. Do a web search to build your own - they are very easy, with two hinge points and a long enough arm, you can scale just about anything to "full scale" car size.
