I am looking for information or websites about putting a Nissan Skyline RB20DET, RB25DET, or RB26DETT into a Datsun 240, 260, or 280Z. The RB26DET is an all wheel drive tranny and may not work even though it is the most powerful. I was looking at the ******* 250GTO kits for a body conversion from Thunder or Scorpion.

I have seen a few of these conversions done, and it seems pretty straight forward (as compared to the V8 conversions) as all the motors are straight sixes so it be just to fabricate some engine mounts and an aftermarket computer and off you go. As for the gearbox the R33 GTS gearbox is exactly the same as the GTR box, just without the 4wd system, and is a straight fit!!

Hope this helps

Try HybridZ.org. they have info on v12 to 4 bangers into the Z car. Make sure you do a search before you post they get a little touchy about repeat questions. There are a couple guys that have posted pictures and info on that engine.

If all I need is time and money I am in trouble! The twin turbo engine is the hot ticket mated to the standard tranny the Z would be fun. I will keep researching and looking for web sites on the conversion until this project can progress. Right now the Gullwing is #1.

There is a bunch of guys that also did the 250 GTO on that site. Again do a search for GTO and you'll have hours of reading and a lot of nice pictures.. Look up Speedracer, has one of the best looking 250 GTO's around. A girl built one with a streched wheelbase and a BMW v12.

The twin turbo puts out some pretty good HP and is suppose to be underrated. I am looking for something different for the Gullwing or a future GTO other than a V8. I see for resale that the Z conversions with a V8 do not sell for much vs the Nissan conversions bring a fair price...at least asking price. here is a link to the 250 GTO on Vanilla Sky on Ebay...$$$
