I just saw a 58 Berkeley on the web, and now I'd like to find a project car to modify. It was powered by a 3 cylinder 2 stroke FWD. I think running a water cooled motorcycle engine would work good. If a Berkeley can't be found, is there a kit car out there somewhere that comes close to this? It's 10 feet long and 4 feet wide and looks like a shrunken Cobra. Dave

Life's too short to drive an ughly car

Hi ,
Just came across your post.

I owned a 4 wheel Berkeley - it was powered by a 700cc Royal Enfield 4 stroke and was an absolute flying machine.

My car was an ex-works model owned and driven by some Italian Count and finished 1st in it's class at Monza!

I totally rebuilt it and fitted Shorrock C75B supercharger - WILD.

You just don't see them around these days, although the company made quite a high number. The 3 wheeler was the most popular, but the 4 wheeler seemed safer! BTW where are you located?

Manfred- i can't tell you how happy I am to hear about the Gullwing Project. About 2 years ago, I bid on Tony Ostermier's last production roadster. Unfortunatly, I was outbid and I have been trying to track the new owners down ever since. Always, of course, coming to a dead end, most recently at Hatch & son. I am a very serious potential customer. Please keep me posted on you're progress. More pics of the roadster please ASAP. What is the new web address?
