To build a copy of the Murcielago simply purchase a 1/18 scale model. Then, "slice" it into pieces as you would a loaf of bread, this gives you the wooden template profiles to cut from plywood or masonite. Next, go to Home Dpot and purchase the Tuff-R foam insulation, you will need to remove the foil backing, some do this with a heat gun. Or purchase the cheaper styrofoam. Be careful though, because you can not hot melt/ hotcut styrofoam due to toxic fumes. You can however hot melt/cut the Tuff-R polyurethane foam with no side effects. Polyurethane foam is the way to go as proven by mostly everyone. After you slice the 1/18 scale model into pieces, simply take these sections to a local copy shop and ask them to enlarge them to the exact size you need as compared to the real Lambo. Next, trace these patterns onto plywood or masonite and you are done. Visit the Fibre Glast website for more helpful info on plug building and the www.rqriley.com/frp-foam.htm for more. Last, purchase the book "Fiberglass & Composite Materials" for a complete detailed source. I just joined here, great topics & site!

Looking good so far Manijac , Just a small not before you finish and start building . Look into as many pics as you can so you can get all the details right from the start , save cutting them in later like i had to do . Here is an example .

Hi Dave,Well first let me say wow!... you have done a really great job on building the plug for your project. I luckily stumbled across this thread through hours of searching Google and all the other search engines for any type of information on how to build a nice plug. Looks like I finally found a good place to ask questions. I am currently looking at creating a plug based off my own creation & design. I have spent countless hours designing a car that I think be very appealing to a lot of people. I am looking at making a plug and mold and have not been able to find much information on the web or even in books for trying to do this. I have created my model in 3ds Max and I’m looking at how you were able to cross-section your design but I cannot figure out exactly what you did. I have found a few programs that seem to say they can cross-section the 3d model for me but I have not had much luck trying it. Must of the program seem to be for small milling machines and can’t handle something as large as a car. Did you simply create several planes though you’re 3D Model and adjust them manually to the outline of the model? Or did you use a special plug-in or function to create the honeycomb plug like you show in your images. Also how do you get the designs on the wood and foam pieces? Did you have a CNC shop cut it out for you or did you print it out on large paper and trace the image on the plywood. Also can anyone provide me with good resources for building plugs and molds? I have been looking everywhere and most of the info I have com across is incomplete. Thank you, Neal

Does anyone know somewhere on the web to get lambo 3d models for solidworks or autocad so like an IGES, STP, or something else. What is 3ds Max and why kind of files does it utilize. I do alot of work with cnc machines and especially doing 3d models from 2d mdf slices using Solidworks and toolpath generators. Basically im looking for a 3d model to import to my cad software so i can cut it in to slices on my cnc machine. Can anyone help? Also were can i find a 3ds max download version

DAVE If your only in Melbourne I think I might just have to come on down for a visit, I've been after one of these kits for some time and so far have only found builders in England and the US. I currently have some very sketchy plans to build a LP640 on a space frame with a LS3 power plant and maybe a small super/turbo charger. I love the idea of being able to obtain major components from home . Also if you will be producing kits will you be supplying the interior, And a package including ALL head lights, tail lights, windscreen, grills etc etc etc Oh yeah and on the one piece'v'multi panel if you must reduce the number of seperate parts PLEASE make the front bumper/spliter a replacable component as this will be the most likely area to suffer and damage, And you will also be able to make upgrades for the kit LP640-LP670 and so on........ aaah man I just lost a huge post.... Now that sucks.Anyway I'll do it again in short. I'm from South Africa, Cape Province. My project I started a couple of years ago. Was dormant for about a year. The last mont I have been working on her every evening, even if I only get in an hour or so. My car is based on the Lambo Murcie specs. I did some changes to it though (subtle changes really). Afterall it's me that has to like it. Individuallity is very important. My prop is nearing completion stages now. I used an off the shelf Peugeot 307 windscreen (I got a cracked on for free) to put on my prop and to foam in underneath to produce the reveals. The 307 windscreen is close to the real thing. If anyone can run through the steps how to post some of my pics I will do so. Chassis - I have a Diablo Blue Print chassis plans, will share if you haven't got it. I will modify it where necessary, if necessary. Motor - Looking at Lexus 4.0 V8, Audi 4,2 V8 (would love RS4) or Chevy LS V8 (Later model the better) Box - Porsche transaxle, Audi or maybe GT40 (Not sure what to use at this stage. Prop - built from chipboard, hardboard, Polyurethane foam (2-pACK) Telcum powder & resin (Still in progress)nearing later stages Cheers Jackal
