No its not one of mine , But take note that its built on a space frame chassis witch on its own is worth about 10 thousand . and also that this is a plug not a shell , So you can mold as many shells as you like off this .

How much you think you 'll be charging for the shell? I'm thinking of creating a kit as a hobby some time soon :) and i'm a total newbie at it so i don't think i can create my own plug that will look anywhere near what you have. :)nice plug btw.

I would have to say around about $10,000 , I'm not to shore yet , I'll see how much work is involved and how much it will cost me per shell to make . But the shells will be proper made and be set up so the air intakes and back wings can be made to work .

Hey guys Yea i made the 3D structure myself in gamespace , I wanted to see what it was going to look like before i waisted my time on something that looked wrong .
"3D structure" means "3D model of Lamboghini Murcielago"? or "3D structure" means "plug sections"? Where to find "3D GameSpace"? Free demo or something similar? How long it take and how much $ cost to build such plug?

I built the plug sections like you can see in the pics using the 2D plans i have . GameSpace is a sweet as 3D modeling program to use , easy to learn . not to complicated and exellent features . You can find the full version here : http://www.caligari.com/gamespace/ Or dowload the demo here : http://www.download.com/GameSpace-Light/3000-6677_4-10290442.html The cost on building the plug depends on how you do it for example . The wood i got for free , a furniture factory was throwing it away . The foam i also got for free , a prefab foam wall factory was throwing it away . And i used plaster instead of bog costing me about $250 instead of over $1000 dollors . All up its cost me about $500 dollors were normally it could cost thousands . Its all about how you do it .

Thank you for the reply,Daleveo I will try the demo now. You had the chance to get free materials wow. Seems that the materials itself and the CNC work for the wood sections would cost thousands $$$$$$$

Hi Dave, I must say it is looking mighty impressive for a first attempt.I just wanted to know where you got the 3d model of the murci from, did you model it yourself? Also, how did you split the model into sections (for the wooden structure)? I was thinking of starting an enzo project and would really appreciate some advice. Thanks.

Originaly Webguy's plans are taken from Brian Wolff (as I read at Lambolounge.com) and they are not the same as the 3D model here. They are taken from another model (very, very low quality one). Dave's model is better. Look at the mesh topology - it's optimized low polygonal 3D game model. Game models use special triangulated topology which is optimized (without unwanted polygons which can load the CPU, the videocard and the memory) and the optimization process can take twice the time of creating the 3D model. You can see how the optimization look like here (rear wheel well): http://img134.imageshack.us/my.php?image=polycount6ie9.jpg

He he ..... This is going to suprise everyone . Yea i did make it from the Webguys plans , But i had to make heeps of changes . The plans acualy scale up spot on just the details are a bit poor . Wheel base matches the origanal chassis , Length , width , Height are spot on , all the lights , grills , Windows all fit spot on . I have also downloaded hundreds of pictures from all different angles and spent a lot of time matching it up and i'm happy with it . Heres an example .I had to cut the hole side out and the scoop hole .

Great Job, I was wondering if anyone new where to obtain info on building a plug i havnt found anything solid. Hears another post with some interior stuff: http://www.kitcars.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2936 Is anyone providing plans other than webguys? Those game models from gotham etc has anyone cheaked for accuracy eg wheelbase, height etc?? Keep us updated Dave this is a great build and informative for those new to building plugs. cheers jonesy

Hey Daveleo,You wouldn't be working in Lilydale by any chance? I was dropping off my son to a birthday party at the Lilydale Roller skating on the weekend and saw 2 Diablo kit cars parked a few doors down. One was painted yellow and had wheels, the other was raw and had Fiero wheels (at least thats what I think they were). I took a photo of the yellow Diablo on my phone but I don't know how to attach it to this post. |

Finaly i got hold of the plastic piece in front of the winscreen it should be here by friday , Now i can finish it and paint it . Can't wait to see a bit of shine on the panels . I've been working on the side scoops , I will post a few pics soon .

Usualy such a low-poly 3D game model takes 1-2 days to complete and additional between 3 and 10 days for mesh refinement (polycount optimization, vertex and edges fix, setup the smoothing groups, etc).

hi, im not refering to making an entire model, just laying out the cross sections in CAD or 3d model software so i can see what the basic shape loks like as Daveleo did. if this is what would take 1-2days, anyone know where i can find someone that would do this for me free or dam cheap? i was hopeing considering it was in dwg it could be just fiddled with in some software. Ive tried a rendering/3d model forum but not positive consdering how time intensive it seems. how long did it take you daveleo??? cheers jonesy

Try www.turbosquid.com or www.3d02.com - there are many russian, serbian, chinese, indian and many other boys ready to work very cheap.
The Ford GT40model above is low-poly rip using a plugin like "Polygon Cruncher" for 3DS Max) The genuine hi-quality 3D model by the original author here: http://3d02.com/html_3d_Model/3d_model_main_3M04180.asp#

Daveleo, how long did you 3d model take. Also i was looking back over the pics, and your initial layup of foam compared with the next lot of pics shows substantial work around the window frames which looks like it was constructed without the help of contours on the wood paneling. it also looks like you added substantial mater to these areas to be able to shape it. is it foam or plaster you built up over the foam with, and what desnity foam is it? it looks like the cheaper form that balls real easy. If you did this again would you choose a model with more polygons and increase the amount of cross sections used?? would there be anything you do differantly?Do-You_wanta_prototype - do you know where i can get a good models of vehicles mainly gt40 to inlarge and cross section, there was no contact detail for the one listed so could queery owner. plus what am i looking for apart from asthetically pleasing, should i want a certain polygon count etc. cheers jonesy

It only took me a few nights to make the model The poly count dosnt really matter its the shape that needs to be right , All the smoothing and detail is done in the plaster stage . I use all the orig windows , lights , grills to get the proper shape , Any foam will do just not spungy foam , Plaster will fill all the gaps and sticks good to a rough surface . When i build my next one i will make my own plans , Pick a good 3D model you like the look of and slice it up , He he he . Or i might just design my own car completly .
