Hi all, I just signed up. Im a high school junior, I'm very good with mechanical type things, engines I am alright with. I have a ton of spare time and need a new hobby, I was thinking about making myself a car that I could use. Do you think that it is too much work/too hard for a high schooler to try this with relatively no experience building cars? How many man hours for a car to be completed? Also, where could I find a Pontiac Fiero chasis to mount a kit on, it seems like that and VW Bugs are the only things they are mounted on? Also, how do i know which engines I can put in them, I really would not enjoy having a Cobra or Diablo look a like that could not even run well with a garbage engine. Well thanks for your time, Ill hopefully be purchasing one soon.

Hello,
I am going to give you my advice. I have built several cars on the fiero chasis and have had great service out of the fiero. I would recommend looking for a kitcar that someone has already done alot of the work. You can find unfinished cars on this site for $4000 to $5000 that are about 1/2 done. I promise you that you cannot build to that point correctly without spending at least that much. So, If I was you, I would book mark several kit car sites and start looking for a deal. You could have bought a finished 308 in pretty good shape for under $7000 a few weeks back or a 1/2 finished 328 ******* for $3500. That is the way to go in my opinion.
Hope that helps
