FINALLY, SOMEONE GETS IT! Thanks for the vent Dave, im glad your back too. For awhile i was beginning to think 40k was nothing, but im back to normal now, and i didn't get anything near what was advertised. 38,500 is nothing to sneeze at. Please look at www.kitcar, kitcar mike vetter has AWESOME looking diablo replicas at the same price, but these are BEAUTIFUL!!!! (Thanks for the tip kitcarguy) If that showed up instead of the yellow murc, i would be thanking god!!!! |

to say the truth 8k more will not even be enough to finish that car . i would say about 30-45k more. this is with labor cost.

No offense kitcar15, but first you say we should give the builder a chance, and why not talk to people who bought his cars, then you say the car isnt so bad, and it should be expected for 40k. now your saying 40k bought a car that needs ANOTHER 35-40k to make it right. which is it, is the guy just "MISUNDERSTOOD" and builds a good car for 40k, or did you review the pics and decide that its a bad car and needs 35k more in work? Look at kitcar.com (mike) and see what 40k buys at his shop. i guarantee its worth every penny. maybe at your bank 40k is nothing, but at my bank its a pretty penny! |

Make up your mind man. Hell Kitcarguy15. IF you dropped 40k on a car such as this and it said it needed nothing and was well build blah blah blah . How would you feel when that got delivered? This was not suppose to be a half ass built car. I was suppose to be ready to drive. It looks as though is was built at a highschool auto shop for free. Fact is the owner should not have to settle. this is not what was paid for. The owner should not be chasing Ted around, What reputable company do you know that gets all your money and spends it before the buyer gets the car? Just a few days after this car was delivered Ted was saying he didnt have the money because he had to pay for the build All though im not all mighty and powerful I am going to do everyting I can to make sure he does not pull this **** again. This industry gets enough crap from day to day. I would rather see more people enjoy owning cars such as this then people shying away from them because they hear everyone gets scammed

i know what you are saying. i do agree with you on the completeion of the project. it is just not complete no matter how much you paid for it. its does not matter if its 40k-100k. you are right its not ready to be driven. i was talking about it being done the way i wanted to make it look close to perfect. but as for your car . if i was the buyer i would expect it to be completed and ready to be driven as well.so what what i hear this is not a car from rarecars.org? is ted from another company? or is he from rarecars? on the other kit site they are still saying alot of nice things about rare cars.org. i think that guy who owns the company is a different guy from what i hear.

Who is saying good things, blind people? Come on, look at the pictures, you dont need to hear exagerated responses, LOOK AT THE PICTURES! If someone is talking good about rarecars, then obviously they were not taken advantage of, BUT LOOK AT THE PICTURES!!! Bottom line is this kind of thing isn't a one time thing, it MUST HAVE HAPPENED IN THE PAST!! I have access to alot of web sites on kitcars, PLEASE enlighten me as to all these success stories. Kitcar15, i have a car for you, real cheap, only 38.5K and its yellow......... |

Hey luv 2 shop...a little advice. Don't get all worked up by what is said here. Most of the people who post here are kids who are just dreaming. They haven't built or bought a real kit before in their short lives. They try to talk the talk, but have only the knowledge they gleam from surfing the web. Arguing with a 15 year old who has more experience popping a zit then dropping $30k on a care is an exercise in futility and only results in your frustration.
Fact is you got hosed. And its pretty obvious that you know you did. You can't turn back time so focus on an aggressive plan of attack. I suggest a certified letter to the seller. Explain the issues and request a refund. If no response work through the courts. If you paid by check see if there is a way to recoup the funds.

Your right, its just so #$#@ frustrating. I am moving on, building another from scratch. Hopefully the builder will go through with the plans to remove this from me shortly. I will keep you updated. I didn't have any idea kids as young as 15 or 16 were on this, where are their parents and why are they on kitcar websites at such late hours? What kind of industry is this? |

Yeah g'day,Last time I checked I was a grown man that has owned and built a couple of fast cars.
How about you get your facts right!! Yes there are a few kids around but there are also quite a few professionals about who know what they are talking about. I don;t claim to know everything, and neither do most people here, but we all like to help people and offer our opinions. Phew....ok thats over Now luv 2 shop, I agree that you should not have to take this on the chin, so go forth and smite this proprietor of excriment and rid the industry of this evil!!! Ok this is weird, I talked to Ted yesterday and I dont think he sold these people this specific car. I.E. I think he still has the yellow Merci at his shop or he is selling it again for another client. I have a idea of who is "luv 2 shop" but I will hold my tongue, short story is I have met a few of Teds customers outside of any connection to him and they have been happy with their cars. This is multipule owners over a few years time. He builds drivers, not show cars. The cars that I have seen come out of his shop are the correct quality for the price, as long as the owners have realistic expectations for the discounted price they pay they really love their cars. I have no idea who STORMBRINGER is, and i guarantee you dont know me. I'll tell you what, im not going to argue or get upset anymore, im beyond that. I can tell you this, I will show you this thing anytime anyplace. If you agree that this is worth even $20k, i will publically kiss #$#@, and apologize profusely. the pictures someone posted ARE INDEED the automobile purchased from ebay from rarecars. I did not post the pics, i did not make any of this up, i invite any and all to view this car! I do not need to prove anything, but the challenge stands. You email me privately, and i will show you todays paper next to the auto, and email it immediately to your address, so how about it, ready to back up those words? |

By the way stormbringer, if you think the pictures posted are of an automobile worth exactly $38.5, and is a car for someone who "APPRECIATES" automobiles, and is not for show, tell me how much you would appreciate it not running, or gaskets blown, or how about the paint coming off, or how about those doors, wow, they dont line up. If the pictures here are of a car for someone to appreciate, I'll tell you what, i have some swamp land in florida for you to appreciate, price $38k! (i'll throw in the car for you to appreciate as well) |

the best is to not deal with small companies in the first place . go only with the best in the business such as wild rides , north american and exotic glass. to save yourself the problems deal with them only . but hey you want the best then you will have to pay up to get the best. if you take a chance with a small company dont be complain at what you get. its not totally unexpected. i always knew there would be problems if you deal with lower cheapo companys. if not the way they did your car it will be somethingelse like engine problems and ac not working etc. thats why they charge you half of what the best in the business do. i know you did not get what you exected . which was a completed car. but hey why take a chance with them and have all of this problems. im not shocked at what happen . its expected. thats why i stay as far as i can from these. am i right?
