I'm new to the kit car scene so please forgive me if this is a dumb question: I have a 1994 Toyota Corolla that's in great shape and instead of selling it, I thought I might convert it to something else. I've seen some folks converting the Corolla GTS into a Lotus, but I'm not really interested in the Lotus per se. I would prefer a small convertable coupe like an MG, Triumph, or 1950's ******* (e.g. Monza, Spyder). Porsche 356 Speedster would be great, but those seem to be built from a VW chassis. Cobra's are cool as well, but those all seem to be built from a 5.0 Mustang donor...

What do you think I could do with my Corolla? I'm a pretty good mechanic and welder overall, so I could make some modifications to it if necessary. I'm not looking to build a muscle car, since the Corolla's 4-cylinder engine is pretty dinky - I just want something to drive to church on Sundays. Any guidance you have is greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much,
Steve
