You don't want a factory five. Unless you're going to race it. Other than that, they're noisy, hot, flimsy, etc... They're pretty cheap, but you won't be happy with it. Look at Superformance or Premier for an excellent cobra replica. Stay away from Factory Five.

Doc. Do you have any idea what you are talking about? I am currently working on my 9th FFR Cobra. they are in my opinion the best bang for your buck in the kit car industry.

Noisy? they arent any noisier than any other Cobra. FFR offers a Cat option that will really quiet your car down.

Flimsy? Flimsy how? they have one of the strongest frames in the industry. tell me how they are flimsy?

Hot? A ffr cobra doesnt runn any hotter than any other Cobra i have seen. With proper insulation a FFR cobra or any other cobra can be as cool inside as any other car.

How many of these have you built? how many have you driven? Have you ever even seen one up close?

Have you taken a factory tour to see what goes into one of these?

I am not trying to give you a hard time, but get your facts straight. BTW over 5000 owners and still growing. Ask any other kit car caompany if they have that many happy customers

Hey Doc-

Why the big slam against FFR? I had a very nice FFR. In fact, I routinely beat Superformance, Shell Valley, and even an ERA in car shows!! I sold it so I could build a GT40. My FFR was a GREAT car.

Er, what's up Doc? Besides the fact that FFR cars are of tremendous quality, FFR owners have the pride that they actually built their car! Isn't that what the experience of owning a "kit car" is all about?

Doc can't read either. Show me where you can get a Superformance for 16grand.

Disclaimer...I built an FFR.

The quality of the car is highly dictated by the quality of the build and the planning of the builder. A sloppy builder can make a kirkham look like crap. For the money you're looking to spend, you'll need to give FFR a hard look, but even there, most guys spend in the high 20's for a good build...you'll find some guys in the low 20's and some in the 60's...it just depends on what you want.

There are others out there that make nice kits. Hurricane is one that I've seen advertised. B&B is another. Just go to the forums and ask around. Anyone who answers like Doc doesn't really know the market or maybe he's seen only seen a sloppy build. Certainly not indicative of the FFR product and what you can do with it as a base to build on. Check out www.ffcobra.com to see a lot of high quaility builds.

I don't know if you'll find what you're looking for though...not if you only want to spend 13-16 grand. You can probably find a nice kit in that range, but you'll need all the goodies (tires, wheels, motor, trans etc etc etc).

Good Luck.Go to Top of Page

Michael, how much would it cost for me to have you build me up one with everything but the wheels, tranny, and engine. Even if it needs to be with out the rear axle? I was thinkin along the lines of the non convertible version.

I'll jump in on this....I have a Factory Five as well and feel very comfortable with it. Unlike the others mentioned I built my car which is something the others cannot say. It has the aluminum panels rather than a fiberglass tub. That said I am also building a Mercedes Benz Gullwing, complicated build but never the less I am building it. Every kit has it's good and bad, you must decide what you like and want. Considering that FF sells more kits than anyone else we can't be all wrong, ya think?

Then order a Superformance Cobra. Very nice, very original, and all you have to add is an engine and trans
