I have had these ideas in my head and I might take the plunge and build. Are there any good reads out there on Chassis building and fiberglass construction? Although Im mechanicaly inclined im not so much chassis/fiberglass inclined. Also maybe info on using carbon fiber

There is books…tons of them no…where to start….

http://www.kitcarnet.com/books.asp

http://www.kitcar-books.moonfruit.com/

web sites

http://www.bigfiberglassguide.com/building-a-fiberglass-car.html

start small to learn the techniques like build a subwoofer box then maybe a repair job on a smashed lotus…then build you prototype…lots of money to be lost on inexperience (painful experience).

Oh just had an idea…build a 1/18 model and have a foam company build you a a full size foam model which you then can lay a fibreglass cover on…cost a little more but save you time.

Also have a look for boat building books, as the techniques are the same.

Good luck

I’m not sure if there is any US web sites that approach the topic of making a body...from time to time I run into someone showing pictures of building one but as far as I can remember there is no real description of how it is done. Maybe you have found a market for a book and a website...team up with an experience build and your off.

keep an eye on this page (in Australia) it might be help full:

http://www.copycatcars.com/darby_development.htm

uhhh just a quick search I found this…ENGLISH I know…

http://www.brtheoutsider.freeservers.com/locostbuilder/grp.htm

ohh not the whole car but you might learn some from these DVD’s

http://www.glassmanscustomforum.com/howtodvds.html?src=over&OVRAW=build%20fibreglass%20car&OVKEY=fiberglass&OVMTC=advanced

this is a good link…

Chassis is a bit more tricky…you gotta get it right or else……….

Have a look here:

http://www.gmecca.com/byorc/designpublicationsbooks.html

good luck but I guess I better do some work or the boss man will be angry!!

hahah thats funny. I was just looking at the Locust a few days ago. Its a neat little car. Not my thing but if I could build one for a few 1000 I would do it just to do it.

Thanks for all of your help
