Hello.

I’m starting a small business here in Portugal, with an original design, based in the very well known Lotus Seven.
I have some other projects in mind, and some of them are starting building replicas from some classic cars, such as the Porsche 356 or the Cobra 289, etc… These models are very good for the Portuguese weather, since there’s almost sun shinning all over the year.
I have the knowledge and the means to make the models in any scale, including 1:1 scale. I can also make custom designs and turn them into reality, in form of full scale foam models.

So, the question here it’s not how to make them, but it’s a question of legal matter.
Does anyone knows if a company that decides to start building a 356 speedster replica to sell, needs any kind of building licence?
I don’t know if all of the replicar business is based in any kind of illegal issues related to the design copyright of the original companies… You know what I mean!

Can anyone help me out?

BTW: here is a picture of my car. It’s the Victoria F7 model.

There is no one in the world that has Porsches blessing to build 356 replicas at this time that I know of, unlike ******* they don't actively hunt down people selling replica's. You are pretty safe building them just by yourself without getting porsches attention.

Vintage builds ~300 a year and I have never heard of Porsche USA ever giving them grief.

Primarily I think this is because people like me who have owned or do own a originals often have a replica that they can drive to the store in and not worry about dings or ruining a unreplacable car.
