this add is more than likely a fraud/scam, no supra with that low of miles would go for 10k, especially not with a yahoo account that was made a day before the ad was posted.

be aware

Yes, it is a scam. Pantera, what was the email that he sent you back, I would be interested to learn whether it is the same one that he sent me, we could be certain that he is templating it then and get the ad off the homepage.

Well TO add my 2 cents ...That Car is a 25-30 USD car with those miles. And anyone selling such a car would know this. I call scam untill the owner can prove otherwise.

Hey guys, I contacted the guy and asked him if he could ship it to my Canadian location, and everytime I asked him a new question about the car, he kept e-mailing me the EXACT SAME OLD message. So, just today, I e-mailed him asking why he kept replying with the same exact sh*t to my distinct questions every time, and am still waiting for his pathetic reply. **** Shawn Harrison. Don't lose $10,000 USD to this mother****er. Here are the e-mails me and him sent back and forth:

ME: "Can you import this to Canada? If so, tell me the total cost (including the car's price) in Canadian Dollars, and if it is around $12,000 CAD to $14,000 CAD, then consider it SOLD. :) ..."

HIM (sent this to me three times): "Hi,The car is in NY, but I am currently in London,England. I moved out because I got a better job here and it appears I will be staying in London for quite a while. The supra is for US specs and have a clear US title. It can't be registered in Europe and that's why I'm selling it.The price is 10.000US$ and this includes shipping fee. If you really are interested in buying it I will ask you to make a $3000 deposit. We can use Escrow Services(offered by AutoTrader.com) as a 3rd party, so that AutoTrader.com will hold the deposit and this way we are both protected. In turn, I will ship the car directly to your address. You will release the deposit to me after you inspect the car. Along with the car you'll receive the original title, original manuals, service records and keys. I am prepared to give you 30 days to inspect the car and make sure everything is ok. Looking forward to hearing from you. Let me know if you are still interested. The vin # is jt2de82a1v1000414."

ME: "Okay, I am seriously considering it. I am getting some financing worked out for this vehicle right now. Is this an automatic car, and why are you selling it for so cheap? Are Supras generally that much cheaper in the U.S. than they are here in Canada? Oh well, LMK anyways."

HIM (sent this to me once): "The car has never been smoked in. I can't register it here because of some new EU regulation regarding emissions that I didn't know about.Shipping would take 3 days at most and I will pay for shipping either way; of course, if you decide not to buy the car, to me that would be a total nightmare; that means if something didn't work on the car or if you had any legal problems whatsoever, that would be the end of me. So trust me, I have everything covered. The only fee you would have to pay is when you will be making the $3000 deposit to Autotrader Escrow(they will email you the instructions). As for the remaining $7000 balance, I would need them by the end of september. Let me know if you can handle that. As you can see, I don't need the money all that bad right now, I'm mainly looking to get the car off my hands because I have a thousand other things to worry about at the moment. If you're not satisfied with the car once it gets there you will get a full refund, but I promise it would not come to that.If you decide to go through with this I will need your complete name and address for the shipping of the car. After you send the deposit to Autotrader Escrow I will come back in US(max 4 days) and will contact you with all the necessary details of the transaction, including details on how to handle the shipping. Let me know what you've decided."

ME: "Okay, Shawn, bro, are you there? How come everytime I write you an e-mail, you write me back with the same old BIG paragraph about how you can use AutoTrader's escrow service to ship the car to me? Look, do you have a HotMail e-mail address? If not, please make one and we shall talk on MSN Messenger. Add me at da_semen_demon@hotmail.com. Also, if you have AIM or Yahoo! instead, LMK your AIM or Yahoo! handle and I shall use Trillian Pro Messenger to contact on either one of your accounts. Please tell me when you are going to be on as well. Other option is for you to provide me with your number and I make a long distance phone call to you. Alright? LMK, bro. :) ..."

I am lucky I came across this thread, as I truly forgot that this deal was too good to be true, even though I have been scammed of $600 USD before. :) ... BUMP.

no problem, I love to point out the obvious scams.
They are always low balling then they ask for some sort of escrow money to a fake escrow company or some other crap.
I have seen so many of these that its easy for me to forget that some people dont know what to look for in a scam.

check this one out:
http://used-cars.autos.yahoo.com/usedcars/detail/index.html?cid=automobiles-1116895369-9694223&dst=8.24&rsr=bWFrZT1DSEVWJm1vZGVsPUNPUlYmY2xfeT0mY2hfeT0mY2xfcHJpY2U9JmNoX3ByaWNlPSZjbF9taT0mY2hfbWk9JmNrPSZndXI9NTAmY3N6PTYwNTYzJnZ0eXBlPWF1dG9zJm1rPUNoZXZyb2xldCZtbz1Db3J2ZXR0ZQ--

04 Z06 for 15K, i figured, alright, its on yahoo, probably legit, so I email figuring maybe its some twisted lady selling her ex hubby's car, but alas no, I got the standard escrow account BS reply to the email, so its a scam. Funny thing is that yahoo wont take it down.

If you are real bored there are many ways to have fun with these people.

I had one moron send me 500 dollars so I could pay for an inspector of the vehicle (no I wasnt) but that I was wiring the 3 grand he asked for as soon as the cash showed up. the crook was figuring to make 2500 off of me. no such luck, the 500 bought some nice shocks for my car though. :)
