Does anyone know if there is a company that makes a kitcar of a Malibu or Chevelle? My brother said he saw a '65 Chevelle kitcar last year at the Bristol Dragway and he said it was a company that was doing fiberglass bodies of these cars. I would love to build a classic '64 Malibu SS from the ground up. I have a frame, engine and tranny. Everything else is relatively easy if someone makes the body.

I will hopefully either be selling my design for, or creating my own resto-mod 70 chevelle kit. The frame will be all tube chassis, and use late model Camaro running gear. I am awaiting a large sign on bonus for a design job I am starting next month. If it is enough, I will be starting on it this winter, if not then I will be able to in 2-3 years for sure.

Colvindesign,
A 70 Chevelle is nice, but the body is too bulky for me. Don't get me wrong, anything chevelle these days that comes close to looking like the old car or even replicating the old car is a step in the right direction. I have am original 64 Malibu frame. If my brother is correct, I should be able to find a 64 body. I don't like the idea that it might be fiberglass, but some modern fiberglasses are stronger than steel, which is hopeful.

It is beyond me why GM won't do anything about resurrecting a classic. Ford has done a wonderful job with the Mustang. I definately see the old car in it and I believe that car will be just as popular as the old one. I have called GM and complained about this. The engineers at GM are asleep at the wheel. Maybe that's why GM is in the trouble they're in. The new cars that uses the old name badging has to be the biggest joke in the world from GM. It is too bad GM can't have a classic car division, but unfortunately with all the trouble they have they would have trouble seeing that.

Before it is over, I may restore an 81 Malibu I have. At least it is a solid car with very little rust.

This weekend I will be attending Super Chevy Show in Bristol, VA. It will be interesting to see if there are any vendors that have kitcars. I will be looking for any kitcars that are chevelles like my brother mentioned about a year ago.
