Hello all I am wondering if I offered a service to build parts for people out of carbon fiber would anyone be interested? I can do what they call a layover which is where you cover an already made part with carbon fiber this is much cheaper and looks good but it has a limited lifetime a few years depending on wear and tear. I can also make new parts out of carbon fiber. This is all real carbon fiber not that sticker stuff that doesnt look real. The prices would be reasonable sorry cant give prices every part will be priced differently based on difficulty but rest asure the prices would not be insanelly high. How it would work is you would send me your original part and I would either cover it with carbon fiber or I would make an exact copy of it in carbon fiber and then send both back to you. If anyone is interested please email me your opinion and comments custom_compsite@yahoo.com

I tried to email you but it was returned. Anyway, below my query.

Hi,

I wanted to know how much to make my from two fenders carbon fiber. I want to first lighten my weight.

The fenders are from 95 Honda Civic 2 door coupe. The fenders are little different in that I did a Honda Accord

Headlight conversion. Also some body filler was used to make the fenders a bit wider than stock.

I require prices for two fenders to be carbon fibered, this including you making the molds. I’m not looking for

Just carbon fiber wrapping. But for my interest please provide prices for the two processes, full carbon fiber part

And for just wrapping with carbon fiber.

Thanks.

how much do you charge for carbon fiber or making molds. there is a company that did molds for Imani and they did a great job for under $50k i think - here was their work:

www.wwstreet.com/imani/st530 and

http://www.wwstreet.com/imani/sr250%20main.htm

it took about 3 weeks and they do a great job i think.

what do you guys think?

is carbon fiber better than fiberglass? is it better to use fiberglass on mass market or if you could affordably mass market carbon fiber cars and trucks, for same cost as steel, aluminum or plastic? their cars and trucks, non-kicar, all dot/epa approved will get around 28+ mpg and MSRP for around $40k

any thoughts?

also, the bodies are around $3,500 to $5,000 for all pieces - again, is that a good price?

guys, he is talking about doing carbon fiber sheet overlays, not making molds or anything. he basicaly sands the part down, coats it in the carbon fiber fabric then puts the hardening resin on it and then if he is a good guy, will sand it down then polish to a gloss so everything looks nice.
this can be done well or poorly, depends on the skill of who is doing it.

Hello If there is enough demand for a quality part I manufacture all of our molds used in our two companies. We manufacture street rod bodies and many other makes and models of products. Rex

Kael,
Well I can do overlays as you described but I can also do molds and parts. I offered overlays thinking that more people would be interested because of the cost of carbon fiber. I would be more than happy to give any quotes to anyone who is serious about having an overlay, MOLD, or a Part custom made in carbon fiber I also do fiberglass work. If you have an idea and you would like to have it made let me know I have very good prices and I will consider almost anything from a door handle to a complete body. Sorry I have not answered in a while my wife and I had a baby so I have been busy but I can find the time if you have an idea or a part you want made. To reach me the quickest email me at custom_composite@yahoo.comas I dont check the forum that often anymore.
