Hello, finding this forum couldnt have come at a better time for me. I am a big 3000gt/stealth enthusiast and you might say I have a bit of an addiction. I currently own two 3kgts, one vr4 and one sl/tt conversion, and a stealth TT. Im looking into building a lightweight backbone style frame with front/rear unequal dbl. A-arm suspension and a front mid-ship rwd drivetrain. My intentions for this are to improve performance handling with a signifigant weight reduction, chassis tuning options, and better suspension geometry. I was wondering if it was common among kit car builders to redesign their favorite cars chassis for performance. Do many of you have interests or jobs in the automotive engineering field and like to be able to build a car to your preferences? Also, what makes a car a "kit car" vs a completely custom hot rod? Some hot rods use very few original parts and often those parts are replicas made by other companies yet they still get the title of hot rod. Lastly, what are some names of high-quality performance kit car or chassis builders that would be willing to answer some specific questions I have?

Try these sites,they are good:

www.lambolounge.com (you can receive answers from many builders)

www.lambobuilder.com (good chassis)

The difference between "complete car"(also complete custom hot-rod,replika etc.) and "kit car" - kit-car is car, that you receive in box, with separate parts that you must assemble yourself. For example, you can order UK car Ultima as complete car or as kit-car.
