Replicas are expensive because they are hand crafted machines. Yes some look like junk, but many are as well built as any low production custom. Try telling Boyd Coddington his roadsters that sell for well over $100K that it is a replica of an old car. He will laugh and say "go build it". Case in point, the Maclaren F1 is built exactly like a kit car.

Kit cars I don`t know..but I could suggest the purchase of an old car, with the look of a Rolls Royce, Jaguar or Vanden Plas

some options
a-Mitsuoka-Motors, a japanes car makers that transforms Nissan Primera in a Jaguar lookalike ,or a Cedric in something akin to a Rolls Royce

b-There is a big american coupe of the early 70s with a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow lookalike grille and theme..they were sued by RR

c-Zimmer Motorcars (but they probably will cost more than an used Silver Shadow)

d-a used Silver Shadow

I wor$hip money.

Hey everyone.. its been my dream to get a rolls.. But i'm to afraid to buy one cause i want to drive it more than 100 miles a year. I came up with an idea of maybe.. getting a mid 80's volvo and puttin a LIMO roof on it, nice paint job.. Tinted windows.. raise the suspention like 6 inches or so.. take those rubber bumper things off the body.. anyone have any ideas on this?? also where could i find a company to make like headlights, tail.. Maybe even a factory grill. that would fit the specks.. I think this everyday car is very close to a silver spur?? all ideas would be helpful..

Keith..

Hello Everyone. We seldom post on our boards, but under certain circumstances we feel we have to. The only revenue kitcars.com earns is from advertisers (both personal and corporate).

561-935-4822 was posting pictures of his products on this thread. We have decided to delete those as we feel this topic was starting to be more about promotion of world class exotics. We would prefer you to contact them directly. They need to take ads to sell their cars, or sign up for commerical advertising.

Please feel free to continue the discussion, but please limit it to ideas, and questions, and less promoting.

We hope you all understand.

Beware of worldclass exotics. Looking at their website and they have a diablo replica http://www.worldclas***otics.com/diablo_kit_options.htm . Problem is its not theirs. That was built by The Car factory. Why would you HAve photos of someone elses build on your site? Also this Diablo was featured in kit car builder magazine. See it where is was built www.kitcar.cc

Look. The Diablo you have on your site is the one Mike had featured in The June 2005 Issue Of Kit Car Builder. You did not answer the question in your previous post. Did you build it or did Mike? I dont care if WCE supplied the Body. Did you build the car?

Also I have spoke to Mike Via email on several occasions. Im also planing to go check out his shop. Do you mind if I also come check out your work Maybe take a few pics of your world class work? Im only a short drive (Orlando)

in Brazil some companies build replicas of a Porsche 911.

but usually the replicas of modern Rolls Royces are even more expensive than an old RR Silver Shadow.

I would certainly prefer to own an original RR for special ocasions, and having a more sporting kitcar as a daily driver, in a frugal and trustworthy chassis

Silver Shadows can be had for less than 25.000 dollars

And for the person that wanted to transform a Volvo , I may suggest to purchase an original Volvo limousine, a Volvo 268 TE, that can be had for 9900 dollars

the chinese are making a limousine that mimics the RR Phantom, but it would be hard to get spares

I wor$hip money.
