Ive heard of kit cars before but never really did any research on them till now.Im new to this but really wanting to learn more about these cars.My favorite car is the Lamborghini Diablo I would like to know where to begin on getting my self a Lamborghini kit car. From my understanding I need to purchase a fireo with a good motor and stretch the frame correct? If I where to build a Lamborghini Diablo could another car work just as well as the fireo? After buying the car having striped down to the motor and frame then I would pursue to put the Lamborghini Diablo frame on it?Also are these kit cars have a good resale value. Also is there anyway to tell that it is not the real thing?
Thanks Eric

cool, diablo is a good choice!
well u dont NEED a fiero
you could either
A) use a streatched Fiero
B) ue a tube chassy
a tube chas. is more accurate iv heard, and would probly last longer
but its more expensive.

as for ur resale vaule, yes they have great resale vaule, if built right. u can order on and have one mad anf probly drive it for yea or 2 and sell if for a few throusand less(USD) than ur purchase amount (if its a popular model).
and about tellign if its fake... again, if its done right u can foold about anyone. theys ell replica VIN plates, full interiors, engine covers, wheels, glass, lights, steering wheels, shifters, emblems, ect. you can also get it to the perfect wheel base, hourse power(or even more), and with the right tuning, even sound like a lambo. its all in how much money you have, GREAT lambos can go for 70+ and iv seen some 'appraised' at or above $100,000 (again, in USD)

for 30,000-45,000 you could get ya pretty decent one but anything under 25,000 id be a little weary about.

what do you think ur budget is?
look around the site and for links to diablo sites that sell all this stuff, do a few days of research ull find about everything u need.

hope this helps
Matt

You don't absolutely need a fiero. Since most Lamborghinis are mid engined cars, it gives that authentic Lambo look. Diablo are sweet, but if you're building one I would recommend a 600 hp engine, because people will try to race you.

Thanks,

If you plan on racing a Lamborghini replica go with a 2JZ engine from the Toyota supra. why?
1, they are cheap if you play your cards right
2,they are very reliable and strong engines.
3, POWERFUL! these engines start with a basic 320hp stock thats 20more horses compared to an LT1 corvette engine and i have seen people puting in a twin turbo system with nos and these cars will then pump out 1100hp!. Not bad for a supra. since a supra weights about 4100lbs with one of those engine just think of one in a lamborghini replica!

why are repilcas so expensive?!Go to Top of Page

only one problem with the supra engine, its twin turbo when means if your racing, the person beside you will hear the turbo 'whoosh' and say to themselfs (if they know anythign about lambos) heylambos arnt turbo'd?

yes i know about the VT-TT but that was a rare case

Matt

and getting a supra engine to 1100hp can cost over $30,000 in parts alone

True ! you would here that twin turbo from a mile away!. I think that engine is best if you plan on racing or you can go with a viper V10 lamborghini designed that engine and it would be close to the real thing.
79-90countach any corvette engine would do even if fiero based
91-95VTDiablo you gotta go with an LT4, LT1
95-98SV/SE ,2JZ Engine
99-00Diablo 6.0 Ls1 or LS6, 2JZ, VIPER V10, or any V12 will do.
02-n/a Murcielago if they make a good kit worth buying i think the best engine would have to be the new corvette LS2 engine comeing out that or a viper engine.
