Not so many tips so far about fabricating your own fiberglass shell for a kit.

But this foam-thing sounded interesting, because it would be expensive and quite foolish to make a mould for a one-off moulding.
So are there anyone who has tried this or anyone at all who has fabricated a bodyshell homemade? Am I the only one who doesent want buy something usual, but to create the monster myself?

Brian Wolff [artworkbybrian@hotmail.com] has done an *excellent* job with his Diablo. You can see it on this site, under the 'Projects' section. He started with a 3D model purchased from a game company, imported it into AutoCAD, and then sliced it into cross sections. Each of these sections then provided a profile for his buildup.

I'm also in the process of desiging my own scratch built car, but I won't be building for awhile.

Lastly, you might have seen www.kitcarworkshop.com. I haven't heard anything good about those plans though. Some people have said that they grabbed a few ideas from it.

If you want, email me (to remind me) and I can look around for some links I saved on other scratch builds.

Since I didn't have anything online I threw something together really quick:

If you are interested in more info, it will be going up as soon as I can sort through it. My engine/transmission sheet (under drivetrain) is worthwile, IMO.

Filip. Cool car. How do you plan on building it (male mold or female). I've been toying with the idea of making my own body instead of doing the F355. I'll be keeping an eye on your site.

A good book I just got off of Amazon is here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0966713303/qid=1028210513/sr=1-8/ref=sr_1_8/102-4329094-5904969 Good reading so far.

Juse: The sandwich idea looks good for support and bulkheads, but it seems a little thick for body panels on a "supercar".

Thanks, check back in about a week- by then I will have a lot more posted.

I will do a standard male mold. I think it will be easier, as long as I can plan out the sectioning correctly.

Thanks for the book idea. I'll keep it in mind when I get to that point.

RCR: I dont plan to make a foam-sandwich chassis, but to use foam as a one-off malemould.
Thanks Filip for your tips, I`ll check your pics now and head to Ireland with my family for a vacation.
You`ll hear from me later.
