What you think of this new MR2 Mrk II (SW20) kit.
I saw it and it was excellent very well made and yes the Hood is part of the kit, the Car started life as a coupe.

The car looks good but it really dosen't look that different from the new MR2. Besides that it looks pretty good.

I think it as more of a Porsche Boxer look myself. The kit looks like a production car, I was well impressed and I own a MR2 355 replica.

I went to the unit where the car is made & had a look at the ones they were building. The quality is excellent. They have built it exactly how a kit should be, a serious amount of thought has gone into making this kit easy to put on the car & the attention to detail was amazing. I sound like I should be on commission from them, but really was impressed.
The hood is easy to put up & down & I fit in no problem (I’m 6’6” & headroom was no problem). I have an mr2 myself & have done work on the car regularly but I struggled to work out just which areas under the rear deck & front bonnet were actually the original car & which were the kit!
All areas where you need to drill to fix the body are marked clearly & if any cutting is required (such as number plate mount or air ducts etc) it is marked as to exactly where you should cut (not that you need to do much). The boot has an engine cover underneath so that you don’t see the engine when you use the boot – nothing special you might think – but this cover has been designed so that it ducts the rain water out away from the engine & storage area yet still provides cooling air to the engine. It has a nifty sealing system so from the outside it looks very professional.
I think the thing that struck me most was that it really does not in ANY way look like a kit car, the whole end result shouted production car & I think the only thing that let it down is that, for me it doesn’t quite have the wow factor I need from a car.
Now if we could only get the 355 replicas to produce panels to this quality & attention to detail!
I have some pics of the cars that were being built during my visit. if anyones interested I will try to post them here.

Cheers
Drew
