Im a 16 year old, wanting to have a super car(like a lamborghini),to call my own!I was wondering if anyone could help me learn how to put a kit car together.I was also wondering,if i should go fiero chassis or try ta get a hold of some plans for a custom chassis.to be honest im really confused, but really wanting to learn more about this.I always wanted to be a mechanic, and if i could build the car and do the engine work it would be great.I want a chassis that i can get a 60 degree v8 chevy small block.i would really like some plans so i can build the chassis in my metalshop class as a final project.I would also appreciate any advice you could give me. |

With your level experience, you should not plan on building a chassis. If you are interested in what goes into a chassis, find information on race car chassis and their theory. You probably would have a blast building a mini-sand rail that uses a 250cc-500cc motorcyle engine. They are very quick and very fun to drive and you'll learn a lot in the build process. You can build any size or make motorcyle engine into it to 1100cc and more and then move on to stuff for the street. Have fun. KitCars.com Mitch |

i am also a relative newbie, after reading and reading, im telling you man...it ain't easy the least bit. Another member posted how he was going to give up because after finding and solving one problem he would find 5 additional problems. I wouldn't put a time limit on the project (school final project). Another member posted how a chassis requires enhanced knowledge in trig and geometry. I doubt at 16 that youve taken trig. probably geometry. A chassis thats not properly built will not only screw your project but in your (potential) case, your grade.I agree with Admin, Take a smaller project, for now. Learn the pitfalls of kit building, learn time managment, and budget management. Go into a lambo project with some experience and it will be a world of difference. We (kitcars.com members) want to see your succeed. We are just pointing out the reality. Cheers, BB

to get started i would check out www.desertkarts.com" target="_blank">http://www.desertkarts.com and www.prosandbox.com" target="_blank">http://www.prosandbox.com. they are both light on the info, but they are a good beginning. the two seat kit at sandbox is crazy, after checking it out i'm considering getting the plans. other than that i would do some google searches, ask around, or even go to the auotmotive or do-it-yourself section of a bookstore hope this helps and best of luck getting started, you picked a great hobby
