When I first saw the photos of the new Shelby Cobra concept car that appeared at the Detroit motor show I thought to myself ´how long before someone makes a replica ?` as I mentioned in a previous post on this forum. The Mazda Miata MX5 or the Honda S2000 seemed ideal base vehicles and could probably be modified without too many problems by an expert. So I got to work with Photoshop and here is a picture of what a Miata based Cobra concept style car could look like. http://es.f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jay58design/detail?.dir=/Auto+Designs&.dnm=81a4.jpg Although some Cobra enthusiasts won`t think much of the idea, I`m sure there are many that would be happy with something like this. We have seen replicas of the BMW Z3, classic *******`s and even Viper`s built using the Mazda Miata as a base so why not a Cobra concept ?

I like the idea of a replica of a concept, but Id rather use the S2000 as a base. But then again, theres supposedly a way to stuff a 302ci V8 in a miata, so that would be very cool.I saw this concept and the first thing that popped up in my mind would be a coupe version of it. Maybe someone can do something with that idea. JTX |

i agree jordan, i would rather use the s2000 myself. it has the same basic shape of the concept. i.e. long nose and short rear deck. it also has 240hp and a 6-speed gearbox from the factory. i figure the cost would be about equal if you were to buy a lightly damaged s2000 to use, or try and convert a miata to v8. either way it would make for a nice replicar. the only problem is actually designing the replica since there are no production vehicles to pull molds from or 3d models (that i know of) to work off of

Make it up then, but I would prefer to see it built on a tube chassis. I think replica would need capacity for torque. I would hate to see a replica of a car with a V10 with a 4 cylinder under the hood. No offense to mazda or 4 bangers, it just doesnt sit well with me if it will in any way represent Shelby. (and it will)
