I have recently acquired a UK registered Kit Car that I have taken to Spain and I would like to know how I could get it registered under Spanish Traffic Laws. The MOT equivalent in Spain would want to see a reduced specification report on the car, for which I only have my D5 form from here in the UK and a number of MOT certificates from the seller of the car.The car was manufactured in 1986 and it is a Dutton Melos with a 1.3 litre engine. Can anyone help?? What woudl the cost be? The steps to follow ... Kind Regards / Saludos |

You should not have many problems today to import a car into Spain from the U.K. unless your car is RHD (right hand drive). You can`t import RHD cars into Spain. If your Dutton Melos is LHD the you will probably have to have it inspected by an engineer who will give you an homologation certificate that you will have to present to the I.T.V. (Spanish MOT) to get your vehicle registered. I dont think the certificate should cost more than 300 EUR. Your best bet is to check first with someone that can do all the paperwork for you. After that its just down to ITV inspection, paying tax fees, registering the car, car and getting number plates. The Dutton Melos was very popular back in the 80`s in the U.K. where they sold hundreds of kits, and Dutton was the biggest manufacturer of kits. Good luck, Saludos
