Guys,
I want to build a 27-34 ford kit and I am wondering how much will I spend on building the car (nuts n bolts) minus the drivetrain?
Any info will be appreciated- tom

Well, that all depends.

What body style are you going for? T-Bucket? Track-T? Model A? 31 on a 32 chassis?

The earlier cars had a straight frame, the 32+ had a completely different frame. Highboys will cost less than full fendered cars, T's will cost than Highboys.

Are you going for a hot rod look, or a conventional original style?

Are you going V8 or not?

And what are you going to be doing with the car? Racing? Sunday driving? parades?

Let us know and I'm sure there's someone here who can help you.

Your pal,
Meat.

Meat,
I want to build a '29 highboy with a '32 grill with conventional styling. I want to use a electric motor for power. The car will be a summer beater to drive to work. -tom

(P.S. I already own a 29' ford tudor that's restored to stock spec. The Kit car I plan on slaping together I am trying to see how cheap I can build it with how many corners I can cut I will not sacrifice safty.)

There was a member here (stephenbl) who was apparently the offspring of the owner of Specialty Autoworks. He used to post here - lying about things - and pretty much destroyed Specialty Autoworks as a legitimate business through his posts. In fact, many of his posts were deleted because of him.

I would strongly recommend NOT contacting Specialty Autoworks about anything. Ever.

Interesting! If you click on the "Professional Builders" link on the top left hand side of this page, it will take you to the Specialty Autoworks, Inc. web site. So, you are telling us that we should never deal with one of your advertisers!!!!

You should deal with every single one of my advertisers. I know every advertiser, I trust in their products and their services, and I wouldn't put any advertiser on my site unless I truly believed in them.

My site is www.CobraTrader.com

This site - kitcars.com - is not my site.

"Interesting," indeed. Pay closer attention to where you're posting, and whom you're posting to.

Sorry Meat. My mistake as I though you were one of the Administrators here - you sure act like one!

To bigtom: We have a guy in our club that bought a rod kit from Specialty Autoworks and was very pleased with both the kit and the service. I have only talked to Specialty once but found them to be very helpful. So, rather than listen to Meat's "expert" advise based on some phantom relative poster, I would call them find out for yourself. Be sure to ask them for references.

Nnnnnope. Never been an administrator here - I just know what I'm talking about. Y'know, unlike you.

bigtom: Specialty Autoworks only offers one year of Ford that you may be interested in; the 34 (coupe, cabriolet and Vicky). Since you stated that you're looking for a '29 Highboy with a '32 grille and conventional styling - something that SpeedRacerMI seems to have missed - I would recommend you avoid Specialty Autoworks.

If you need more help, there are people here who can help you out. People who know what they're talking about. Let me know if the Shell Valley car is more to your liking, or if you're looking for something different. I've got a TON of stuff on the hard drive, and I'll do my best to help you out.

Your pal,
Meat.

Taken from the Specialty web site:

"Specialty Autoworks, Inc. offers the broadest and most professional assembly experience available in the industry today for street rods, replicas, kit cars, component cars, and rebodies."

bigtom,

It appears that Specialty assembles a large variety of kits. You may want to call them and see if they'd be able to help you.

Guys,
I forgot about my posting here thank you for your input. I like the shellvally highboy, I have heard good things about their jeep bodies so I might go with them? But, I am looking to spend 10 grand total on the car but I know there is no chance thats going to happen.
Thanks -tom

Well, you should talk to Rich Anderson over at Shell Valley; it sounds like you're not going to need alot of the stuff that's in the $10,900 kit, so maybe you can get them to put together a better package deal for you. Tell 'em Meat sent you...if that doesn't work, tell him that 'the guy from California who is always wandering around the Knotts show with Curt Scott' sent you.

Your pal,
Meat.
