I plan on removing an air-cooled porsche engine from a 1980 911 and putting in a WRX 2.0l engine or the WRX sti 2.5l engine, but I have two concerns.

First, how hard is it to properly negotiate cooling for such an engine? Since the porsche was air-cooled originally, is it difficult to arrange the logistics of a water-cooled engine such as a WRX or similar?

Second, do you use the tranny from the OEM porsche or do you use the tranny that comes along with the engine?

Besides these two details, I think I have most things figured out

Thank you, and picts will be up soon, I am rebodying a 1980 911 with a 1998 993 porsche turbo S fiberglass body

kennedy engineering http://www.kennedyeng.com/ should make an adapter to fit the subaru engine to the 911 transaxle, which you would want to keep for sure unless you are planning on drag racing.

the cooling is a whole 'nuther kettle of fish. the engine management electrics will be almost as fun...
