UFP doesn’t sound familiar to me do you have a link?1. Insurance is usually a little cheaper, but it is all relative. What engine is in the kit, what type of kit is it, how old is the driver, any accidents etc. To get a better idea go out and a few quotes.
2. Not sure as I don’t remember UFP as a company. But most Diablo kits I have seen lately all had real glass. And if the dimensions of the Plexiglas, is the same as reasonable price real glass, then it is not a problem to chance it.
3.Your fuel economy is again relative. What power plant are you putting in it? what is the weight of the car? Most kitcar’s weight is less then their donors so it should get a bit more to the gallon if you donor engine. But if this is concern you could always opt of a Diesel????? Lose the performance, but you miles per gallon figure will go through the roof. (by the way this is a joke)
4. That is an interesting question. If the company is based somewhere where rust appears on car very easily, you might want to look at getting a donor yourself from somewhere like California. But I think, the more important question is how much is the company and your friend willing to spend on the donor.
But if you have questions then, ask if you can come and see the operation of the kitcar company. Most good companies have a few very good cars available and should be working on a few customers cars too. If this is not the case get out quickly.
Just use you common sense.
