Has Anyone out there heard or have info on internet scams regarding the sale of cars on this or any other website. I have recieved interest in my car from overseas buyers(European or so they claim)and am a little guarded regarding their authenticity.Of course I will not let my car leave my site until the bank has cleared all monies and the money is sitting in my account; but scams can get quite sophisticated and there may be ways to protect myself.Does anyone have any info or advice? reply to bcmedic@shaw.ca.
Thank You

There is a type of scam that people use to buy cars internationally while the money is "behing held by someone in the sellers country".

Advice to anyone selling or buying vehicles across long distances, be very careful and use common sense.

THE MOST COMMON SCAM RIGHT NOW IS THEY HAVE SOMEONE IN THE U.S.SEND
YOU A COUNTERFEIT CASHIERS CHECK,THEY WILL ACTUALLY CLEAR IN YOUR ACCOUNT AND CAN TAKE UP TO FOUR WEEKS TO BE CAUGHT AFTER THE MONEY IS IN YOUR ACCOUNT AND YOUR CAR IS GONE !!! I HAVE A FAKE CHECK FROM BANK OF THE WEST,PEBBLE BEACH CA,I CHECK EVERY CASHIERS CHECK I'M SENT
BEFORE I DEPOSIT IT,IT TOOK 3 CROSS COUNTRY CALLS,BUT IT'S FAKE,IF
A FAKE CHECK CLEARS YOUR ACCOUNT,AND THEN GETS CAUGHT,YOU PAY THE MONEY BACK TO THE BANK,NOT REALLY FAIR BUT!!

Here's the first email I recieved. Though I am suspicious I have not confirmed it is a scam yet. I have asked many questions to which I have gotten no answers.

Hello,
I am Dr. Kelvin Adelart ,I am located on 17/22, trzech krzyzy 00-507 Warszawa, Poland, Europe.
I saw your ad and I am interested in buying your good.I agree to pay the sum of $8500 as you requsted.I will arrange for the shipping.
I WANT YOU TO REACH ME IF THE GOOD IS STILL FOR SALE SO THAT WE CAN ARRANGE THINGS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Thanks and God bless,
Kelvin......

The second email I recieved. This one makes me a little more suspicious.

Hello
Thanks for the information. I have sent it to them and they will write out the check to you so i will want you to mail me immediately the check gets to you so that other aspect of the transaction can be concluded.

I will want you to promise me that immediately the check gets to you, you will send the excess amount of the money to my shippers who will come for the pick up when you ask to come.

Expecting to hear from you soonest.

Kelvin

Has anyone else received emails like this??
Be careful

Dr Kelvin Adelart is the same handle the guy I have been talking to
I thought it was suspicious from the beginning...his latest piece of the scam is that the check has been held up at customs

That's funny :)

Kelvin Adelart is not a polish name, the adres of that dr. Kelvin Adelart "Plac Trzech Krzyzy" is one of the most famous places in warsaw (the capital of poland), in that place are most of the embassies of other countries.

I'm not in warsaw today so i could not check it myself but i typed the name of the street on Google and one of the results was a cafe for gays at Plac Trzech Krzyzy 18 - next door to dr. Adelart :)Go to Top of Page
