It seems alot of kitcar builders would rather work with fiber glass then a cast alunimum engine block. But, i would like to ask what you know/think about what i call "Radical Engine Modding". what is the main reason that a le mans V10Lola has a red line of 15,000 plus versus the V10vipers 7,000 'ish? well, i don't know alot but i'm sure it has alot to do with displacement and stroke lenght, plus cams, springs ect.... But the point is if i had a Large V8 i wasn't really worried about messing it up why/why not shave about and inch off the top of the block and get shorter rods and a different crank, plus cams springs ect....? couldn't i get like a crazy high red line? Is there a better way to do it? High rpms are synonomous with exotic super cars, thats why they sound different.

Have you thought about a quad-cam Lexus V8?

Having known a few blokes in race engine development, casting and scratch-building an engine is rather involving (understatement of the year).

I like your theory, but shaving an inch from a production V8 with waterjackets, oil galleries etc is not feasable. To obtain the short stroke you should use a custom short-stroke crank and long rods. Another point to ponder: the longer the rod, the more power potential at the same stroke.
