Im a little confused. Im looking to build a mid rear engined car, now can any engine be mounted in the back? Could you take lets say a LS1 engine and mount it back there even though its from a front engine car? if i wish for this to be all whell drive do i need some kind of transaxel? tell me whats up.

any engine should work in a mid or rear application as long as there is enough room in the chassis and the engine bay. even if the engine is for a front engine car like the ls-1. an example of this is the mosler mt900. the problem with a mid or rear engine car is keeping the engine cool. usually there should be a front mounted radiator so be careful with plumbing. but you should need a transaxle with any mid or rear engine vehicle. as far as 4wd or awd, yes you will need a special transaxle that is eqiupped to do so and that will take some research to find the one that is right for you. it also depends on what engine you plan on using and if it is mid or rear placement.
