Hi,Iam sorry for my english, but I wasnt using it for a long time. Iam searching for a Kit-Car, thats what I want: -excellent handling characteristics -very light -0-60mph under 6 seconds I have got no requirements for comfort, everything I need are two seats and a Hardt-Top or a Cabriolet where I can close the roof. Cars which fullfill these points in my eyes: Cobra , SuperSeven, Lotus Elise, but the most Superseven and Cobra Replicas got no roof. There are also other Cars I like, exept the K1 Attack. But theres the Problem: I dont want to spend more than 10.000$ (Kit and Car together). Which Kit can you recommend me? Regards,
Tim |

A Seven look alike is the cheapest way, and with a motorbike engine they have a missile performance. The roof can be fit to any seven with little effort. Good luck and best wishes.

Thanks for your reply! Are there other good Kits than a Superseven/Cobra replica with a good performance? I would like to have a normal roof, something like a Cobra Coupe or else. Are Hardtops also avaible for Superseven Kits?At least: Where can I get a cheap Superseven/Cobra or similar Kit with a good performance? There are hundreds of Companys with this stuff. Regards, Tim

Hi there TimThere are companies that do hardtop sevens and cobras (I will have a look around as I don’t recall who). I would say that you would get a better car if you go for a seven, with the money you which to spent…you can really do a cobra justice with anything less then $17000. Have a look at part build cars adds as there are often bargains to be had. Maybe even buy secondhand…Have a look at www.kit-cars.com and you can get a second hand car from England for real small money, like a 1994 Westfield SEi with a 2.0L opel engine for 5500 pounds. Yes it would be right hand drive…reverse the bracket and get a LHD steering rack and play around for a while and you should have a cheap car. Build your own hardtop from fibreglass should not be to much more then $500, that way you could even get a heated rear screen. Good luck -Steffen

Hey Meat, if memory serves me, aren't you working on your own inexpensive single donor cobra kit?How is that coming? What price range do you think it will fall in? Kitcarman.

Single donor GT40 replica. Pricing is $14,900.The project has been on hold for awhile now, as I have had some health issues that I had to take care of first. Then, just when I think I can get the project back on track, I get hit by a car. Not badly, but bad enough (I pushed my son out of the way and took the hit myself. I'm such a good dad!). OUCH! Sorry to hear that. I'm glad you are ok though. I'm sure when you do get the GT40 finished, it will be awesome. The only GT40 kit I am familiar with is the one by Lone Star. I have never seen or driven a single donor kit for the GT40.Take care, Kitcarman
