There is a widebody Porsche 356 replica on EBay that I'm thinking of bidding on and have the following questions:

(1) Skinny tires on widebodies look strange; fat tires don't fit under wheelwells so cars have to be higher than normal (like this one). Owner says if you lower this car, the rears will rub the fenders and the front end shimmies (lowering torsion bar). What's the "real" llok?

(2) Are the widebodies less desirable for resale? Do most people prefer the stock look?

Here's the car:

Thanks!

Hello,

I personally like the original look much better but if you want a widebody make sure to check this one out.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2423827573&indexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting
If you get one, porsche 17 or 18" wheels would look awesome.

For an idea just how good a wide body can be take a look at www.speedsterowners.com (you may have to register to view). In the forums section, under General (non-techical), and about 10 or so down under "getting close", you can see what I think is a fantastic example of a widebody done right. Can't comment on re-sale.
