I would like to get some reccomendations from people who have built a car before, because I havent. My dad has been a mechanic his whole life. I want to spend some time with him and I thought building a car kit might be great fun and a lot of quality time. So, I would like to get a few suggestions on what I should buy and where should I buy it from. Any suggestions at all would be helpfull. cya Mark |

There are all kinds of replicas out there; Cobras, Daytonas, GT40s, Diablos, Murcielagos, Countachii, Porsche Speedsters, Auburn Boattail Speedsters, Lotus 7s, hot rods (highboys, roadsters, etc), completely original designes like the Evoluzione or the Attack, dune buggies, and the list goes on. Mid engined, rear engined, front engined, pancake four, V6, V8 or even V12.What kind of mechanic is your dad? What kind of cars do both of you feel comfortable with? What kind of budget are you looking at? Do you already have a donor car in mind? Sit down and talk with your dad, and outline a budget. There are inexpensive kits out there, kits that use inexpensive donors, fun kits, hard kits, kits that can be done in a weekend (sans paint), off road kits (Hummers and Dune Buggies, mostly), etc. Figure out a budget and what kind or style of car you're looking for and I'm sure that there are people here who can help you out. Your pal, Meat.

Meat is absolutely right, know you budget then the type of car you want to build sport, replica, 4X4 or special. And the most important thing to remember is STICK TO YOUR BUDGET, it is all to easy to get carried away…and those how did you’ll of then find in the classified, where you can also find a real bargain.Enjoy your build. -Steffen
