I currently own several different businesses, all of them based online, and all of them doing quite well. I have had tremendous tax liabilities in the past and am looking to spend some of this years profits via investing into a new (mostly) offline venture. As a Corvette and Viper owner, I have had my eye on even more exotic sports cars, but as a business owner, common sense always pushes me to invest the $150K I might spend on one of these cars into some kind of profitable venture.

That being said, I have some money put aside to invest into a new business. I have always thought it would be interesting to create a new vehicle. Costs and lack of experience have kept me from doing so. However, after reading quite a few posts here in this forum, it occurred to me that perhaps with the right people and the proper funding, something could be made to work.

I am not interested in creating a replica of anything out there. I have had my share of litigation and have even had an in house attorney due to the volume of suits or threats of suits, a successful company gets each year. Instead, I am interested in selecting a few super car designs that I think are fantastic (Saleen S7, Cadillac Cien, koenigsegg, etc.) and using those as inspiration for a completely new design. I would either assign such a design to various 3D individuals or purchase one of the many hundreds that are available from people all over the world. ( http://www.designerspace.com/pages/3-designerspace/design/a/2260/p/1/m/1/portfolio.html )

Although I have a lot of experience in running the day to day functions of a business, including the ability to market a product substantially, I do not have very much knowledge when it comes to what it takes to actually take a design and then convert that into a turnkey prototype. I am not interested in selling kits, but am instead interested in selling a turn key vehicle -- one that a person would see at an exotic showroom (we have several here in San Diego, Ca.)

I do not know if it would be easier to create a custom chassis and build it from the ground up, or to take a donor car like a Corvette Z06 and use that as a host, modifying the interior, engine, wheels and other things as needed. This car would not be cheap, but then again, I am looking to market this to a handful of people each year that are looking for something of great quality -- something different, that nobody else has -- something that performs as good, if not better, than just about anything they can buy from a dealer.

All this being said, I would be interested in hearing from individuals who have experience in this market, who would be interested in becoming part of the team, who can help me get the information I need to really put together a business plan that makes sense. What kind of financing is realistically needed? What kind of time lines would we be looking at? What type of facility and staffing would be required? Could this be done locally in San Diego or Los Angeles, California? Could some, most or all of this be outsourced completely? What do we need to do with a design model to ensure it is road worthy and wont fly away at high speed?

If you have the answers to these questions, I would love to hear from you. Tell me via email what you think and we can perhaps move this over to a phone conversation. I'm looking for somebody that would head up this whole venture for me, since I would not have the time, nor the know-how, to do it right. I need somebody that has done this before.

Based on what I see from their website, I think the company behind the 'Attack' kit car, did a pretty good job with the exterior and interior of their kit. The car is a bit small (it seems) but to me, it doesn't look like any other car I have seen. I love the lambo style doors that rise up -- a sign to most people that the car is something different than the typical.

Feel free to email me at mcoats ((at)) gigatechsoftware ((dot)) ((com)) so we can talk about this potential opportunity.

Best Regards,

Manny
