The guy's a scam. He ripped of my pictures and description from my WWW site at:

http://www.citilink.com/~jch/diablo

On a side note, an original (er, Lamborghini manufactured) Diablo Millenium Roadster is currently selling for $295,000. You can see the only one I know of for sale here:

http://www.dupontregistry.com/search/srDetails.asp?itemid=93209

And the average value of the Diablo Millenium Roadster is around $250-270K as can be seen here:

http://www.lambocars.com/diablo/diablorms.htm

As well, almost all USED late model low mileage Lamborghini Diablo Roadsters are still selling for around $200K (starting at $179K). You can see examples here:

http://www.dupontregistry.com/search/srResults.asp?sessionkey={153A27B4-439C-41E5-B581-DC11B2894EF7}&makename=Lamborghini&makeid=41

So, paying $250K for a replica is a bit absurd (as the scam poster was asking); however, my asking price of $179,995 is not unreasonable for a replica that not only is brand new (<10 miles) but is a real supercar. It is better than the one manufactured by Lamborghini in all categories (weighs less, more HP, better 0-60, better top speed, better handling, better braking, better stereo system, show quality finish, etc).

There really isn't any profit in doing this for a business (and there's really no profit in that asking price). It really did cost not much less than that to manufacture. Let's face it, real supercars custom-built one-at-a-time (or in small numbers) are expensive! They are tons of hours (3,000 on this one) and the parts to get this kind of performance aren't cheap either (especially when you're only buying one of each). You can easily see that most low volume production supercars cost well over $200K!

As with all custom replica cars we have a choice:
1) Build or buy an inexpensive kit car that has the looks but not the performance (lowest cost)
2) Build or buy a replica that may have good performance but doesn't approach that of a supercar (more expensive, the closer you get to supercar the more expensive it gets)
3) Build your own supercar, replica or not doesn't matter because much more money is in the car than in the body kit -- (this option is crazy expensive, that's why you never see or hear of them -- or at least not that often)

Good luck and happy car building!

-J.C.
